You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down. (Ray Bradbury)

About Me

"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget."
-Arundhati Roy
Let's see.....I love school. I'm finishing my bachelor's in Speech and Hearing Sciences and looking forward to taking off next year for a little R&R before starting graduate school to earn an AuD (a clinical PhD in Audiology - the diagnosis, prevention and aid of hearing disorders). I love my family and my friends - they're the most important things in the world to me (the dogs included in the family). I'm an optimist who believes laughter really IS the best medicine. My biggest pet-peeve is spelling/typing/grammar/punctuation errors (something I retained from editing newspapers and the reason my page changes on a weekly basis...it's a bit of an obsession...stupid Myspace!) next to people who take themselves too seriously (we're all too insignificant in the grand scheme of things). I think everyone should be humble enough to laugh at themselves. I laugh annoyingly loud...I know it, I just don't have any control over it. I love bubble baths (especially if they're accompanied by a good book), candy, rain, fall, pajamas, naps, animals, and my daschund puppy, Olli (who never fails to bring a smile to my face).
I'm also on Facebook , but I use myspace more.

My Interests

I'm a video game addict - my dad started me on Wolfenstein and Doom back in the day and it's all been down-hill from there (so I just blame him for my addiction). My favorite game of all time is Beyond Good and Evil, but I also love Black and White and The Sims. I use to be addicted to World of Warcraft, but my playing has significantly decresed due to a heavy school schedule, work, and a desire to maintain a social life among both. I'm addicted to YTMND and other comedy-sites like that...I can browse through them for HOURS if I get the chance.

My Favorite YTMNDs:
Batman Ualuealueale!
Arnold Enjoys YTMND

Conan Alligator! - I want that music as a ringtone!!!

I'd like to meet:

Friends (from school, WoW, or new ones) and gentlemen with a sense of humor. I don't add just anyone to my friend list. I need to talk with you at least a little bit first. Otherwise we're not really "friends" anyways!

Music:

My 2 favorites are Fiona Apple and Coldplay. Most of the music I like falls into the "90's Alternative" or "Indie" categories, but I'm not limited to those genres. I consider Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco my theme-song (or at least one to live by). Recent favorites: Abra Moore and Portishead.

Movies:

I'm notorious for watching my favorite movies over-and-over-and-over again. I'm a huge fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies (my favorite is True Lies) but my favorite movie ever is Die Hard. Favorite genres: Science Fiction, Comedy, Action, and Period-movies. I'm ashamed to say I have a few favorite chick-flicks and I'm too much of a wimp to handle horror movies or anything graphic. Recent favorites: Troy, Blood Diamond and Fifth Element.

Television:

I don't watch much TV, but I watch and re-watch DVD series of shows that I love....like Futurama, Firefly, Sports Night, and Everybody Loves Raymond. I can never resist an episode of America's Funniest Home Videos.

Books:

A lot of my favorites fall into the Sci-Fi category. I love Ray Bradbury (especially The Martian Chronicles). I also enjoy the Harry Potter series and Wally Lamb's books. I'm currently taking an honor's class on J.R.R. Tolkien (yes, I'm a total dork) so I'm feverishly TRYING to read his work (what is it about reading on a schedule that takes all the fun out of even my favorite books?).

Heroes:

I have a life-long obsession with super-heroes - I've always wanted to be one. I love the Tick live-action series, City of Heroes (though I never play any more) and any super-hero movie (yes, even Unbreakable and Sky High).

But in reality my Grandma is my biggest hero....she's the strongest woman I've ever met.

My Blog

Creepy Men....

I'm always afraid of giving guys the wrong impression by being too affectionate, by wearing clothes that are too revealing, or even by smiling at them.  Its not that I'm interested in them -...

Baggage and lies...

I feel like John McClain in the scene where he walks across shattered glass.  What is the purpose of lies that hide who you are from the ones who love you?  If these people's opinions of you...
