Hologram was formed by guitarist Kensuke Takahashi, drummer and vocalist Go Hidaka, and bassist and vocalist Saori Yokoyama in August 2003. In May 2004, Kosuke Nishimura joined on synthesizer as a support member, but he departed in June 2006. In September 2006, guitarist Tsubasa Ehara joined as a support member, and was permanently added to the band in April 2007. They have been highly involved in live shows in Tokyo and other cities in Japan. Their first album was released in March 2006. In the same month, they performed at South by Southwest music festival, which takes place every Spring in Austin, Texas.Their post-rock and electronic sound captures images in one’s mind. Color, brightness, scent, smell or temperature—Hologram embody those senses in their own sound as a “bandâ€.Each member has their own milestone artists. However, they share with each other’s inspirations and create their unique sound. Subtly heavy drums, sliding bass, transparent guitar, complicated textural electronics, and the vocal that delivers the words and echoes carefully-they take all the listeners to “the pleasant placeâ€.Recently, instrumentation becomes more important for them. So that quality of the sound is changing, and their mixing methods are changing too. Also, members have been playing different instruments than usual depending on the song. They aim to establish their own style through such experimental challenges. They also record their improvisation based on the original song with simple concept. And they arrange them to be formed as one song. This is a new method that they have been trying.
