Picked up some turntables about 6 years ago & haven't looked back.. except to get a record out of my bag.. It has been the greatest enlightenment in my life. I owe my taste & love to music to my Big Bro.Thanks B!! If it wasn't for his vast taste, im sure i wouldn't have my collection to date if it weren't for him.. Too many Dj's play the same old bullshit gig after gig... Now i don't proclaim myself has an elite dj, nor do i even think im a good dj. But this happens way to many times.. There is nothing worst than to pay good money to watch international hip hop Dj's play the weakest played out sets there is.. Yes, i know you play to the crowd, but Fuck me!! do we really need to listen to Busta Ryhmes - Anti up,ANYMORE?!?!? Seriously!! its like a 10 year old track!! Yeh, it may be a crowd pleaser but what happens to all this dope new music thats out there that doesn't get played because its not familiar... The only way you can get new music familiar is to play it!! People are sheep when it comes to music!! They'll only listen to music that they are told to listen to, whether it be off Tv(because of an advert)or radio.. Dont' get me wrong, some people are happy to follow others, But i know other people out there grasp new music, but find it hard to find... because Dj's don't play it.. The're happy to play there comfortable,rinsed out set time after time.. Fuck! just go get an ipod & walk away!! Educate people on music! Put the cover of the record your playing in front for all to see,Interact!! Too many dj's has this stigma of wank about them,which put people off coming up & asking what that track was. Don't get me wrong, you still get the idiots coming up asking for requests, generally in mid-mix- that happens.Deal with it. Most public don't know the ins & outs of spinning & mixing.Don't tell them to Fuck off,Teel 'em to come back in 2 mins or whateva.....Its not like its a new mix your trying to do anyway.. But for the non-sheep who do come up & ask what/who that was,Nothing pleases me more than to tell them. I love educating, which is why my sets are always different. Guaranteed!!
