Joe Parker & The Power are Joe Parker, Cambell Austin ( MoneyTree ), Jimi Ray ( New Funk Era ) and
brothers Dave and Bobby Wade-Brown ( Leisure/Beaux Hardts. ) They don’t wash much. Their van’s
called Puncher. One is a scientist. Another’s a docker. With influences spanning Fugazi, Billie
Holliday, Pavement, The Clash and Michael Jackson, they're a band looking to the future but with
an authenticity born out of an appreciation for the past. Well, as long as there’s some White
Lightning in it.
Blah. Following on from this spring’s well received Bee Stings EP (a punky record fizzing with
frustration, hope and humanity, in a sound described as "Be Your Own PET beating up Leonard Cohen
while Joe Strummer and Evan Dando shout encouragement and throw drugs from the sidelines"), the
boys appeared on the ‘Vol.11’ sampler release by Sotones, a collective of 15 diverse acts from
Southampton they helped to kick off.
This summer they also managed to fit in tour and festival dates across the country, playing with
(among others) SixNationState, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Mr. Fogg, Thomas Tantrum, FleeingNewYork, The
Evenings, Simon Breed, Bucky and garage-rock legends Starfighter-X. They've just finished an
awesome NEW ep which will find its way here soon enough, and should get a CD/iTunes release in December...
