I found a beat I like. What can I do with it?
Any beat that has not been sold is free to use for for any non-profit project. You can use them for demos, small mixtapes (under 500), live performances, web videos (YouTube), and uploading to websites (such as Soundclick or Myspace).
It is not required to mention me with your song, but if you can offer any credit for the instrumental I sincerely thank you for your support.
Can I sell my album with the beats?
Technically, no. Producing is how I make a living, and quality instrumentals do take time, patience, and a demanding level of focus to be made right. As many producers do, the beats are uploaded and provided to artists completely free of charge for the sake of good music, in hope that the same level of respect will be returned by not using them for profit.
Can I have a beat for free?
You are more than welcome to choose from my massive library of instrumentals on this page, but custom and exclusive work is rarely free. While I do produce pro bono for the right artists, it is because they have earned it.
Many people contact me expecting something for nothing because of who they know, how broke they are, or how many plays they have. In all honesty, I couldn't care less about all that. If you are sincere about your ambition as an artist, show me what YOU can do and we will go from there.
Will you post my song on your page?
I will gladly listen to your work; just send me an email. I am always keeping my ears open for the next emcee or producer to really impress me, but keep in mind I reserve uploading songs for artists that I network with on a professional level. I will be looking for a few elite artists and producers over the next few months, so get at me with your best work and good luck!
I want to buy rights to use the beat legally. What is the next step?
There are 3 different types of rights available, depending on the caliber of album you intend to release. With any purchase, you will receive the instrumental in 16-bit WAV format (32-bit available), without any tag, and a legal document showing your rights to use the beat. You can have your order delivered by US Mail [5 - 7 days within the US], or through online delivery to your email [24 – 48 hours].
The Basic Lease is easiest on the pockets of an up-and-coming artist's budget, and allows up to 4000 units (CDs, online sales etc...) to be sold. This is generally the best choice for new artists looking to promote a high quality demo, or their first album..mixtape.
For the emcee ready to move up from the underground level, Semi Exclusive Rights grant commercial use for up to 50000 units. Tracking out is also included, so you can have other mixes or arrangements done if necessary. These are the most popular choice for many artists, as they are both affordable and allow a very high sales limit.
When you are ready to move your career to a professional level, Full Exclusive Rights gives you sole unlimited use of the track, and no one else can download or license the instrumental in the future. Tracking out is included as well.
