Discovering weird shit about myself. I WILL plod on, dammit. Gotten into a bad habit of loud drunken singing to 50's do-wop in my kitchen. I amuse easily. Learning how to love unconditionally and not be so reactively angry are goals I'm working on.
I've rediscovered major league baseball (go Giants!). That's a very good thing! Also anything Joel Veitch (rathergood.com) does with those cute as hell animals.
I'd like to meet:
I want more smart, goofy, responsible, reasonably happy people in my life who don't take themselves too seriously, walk the walk, don't take shit, like to go to shows, favor Guinness(more so Big Daddy these days), Jaeger(I have to stay away from that now), and American Spirits, didn't vote for Bush I/II or Newsom, love to go eat breakfast any time of the day or night, are fairly drama-free, funny, can roll with the punches, believe in integrity, and won't lie to my face about important things (if you're gonna lie, at least do it WELL, for fuck sake).
That's not such a tall order, right?
Big plus if you get pissy and aggro occasionally as well as enjoy giving and receiving hugs.***I want him for Christmas***
Music:
60's Jamaican ska, rocksteady, Two-Tone, 60's soul, reggae, punk, hardcore, surf, Hawaiian slack-key, taiko, do-wop, big band, rockabilly, psychobillly, bebop, classical, hip-hop, lounge, techno stuff, 80's new wavey stuff, industrial, anything sung in Spanish, Hawaiian, or Japanese, anything with a horn section, pretty much open to anything and everything except super crappy metal (I didn't say ALL metal, sheesh) and the Grateful Dead.
Movies:
The Nightmare Before Christmas, Psycho Beach Party, Bound, Ran-Ma, Rhapsody in August, My Neighbor Totoro, Cafe Flesh, Babe, Dr. Caligari (1989), Party Doll A-Go-Go, Once Were Warriors, Blood Shadow, Mommie Dearest, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Crow, Desperado, Shock, Zazel, Grease, Selena, Night Dreams, Princess Mononoke, The Princess Bride, Puppet Master series, Evil Dead series, Lilo & Stitch, New Wave Hookers, Rocky Horror, A Clockwork Orange, Dance Craze, Quadrophenia, Inflated (too funny), anything with Jackie Chan, anything with Jeaneane Garofolo, anything with Jeanna Fine, etc, etc
Television:
I can only get a fuzzy channel 7 now since I don't have cable or bloody reception. It's been a while. When I had TV or near somebody's TV, I watched South Park, The Oblongs, Family Guy, Harvey Birdman, Daria, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, The Muppet Show, Queer as Folk, Sex in the City, Six Feet Under, Buffy, Robotech, AbFab, the Young Ones, the Avengers, the Simpsons, Power Puff Girls, Xena, Cleopatra 2525, Firefly, the Jeff Corwin Experience, the Planet's Funniest Animals, WWE Smackdown/Raw, I Love the 80'/90's, Jackass among others. More bars ought to have Cartoon Network or Boomerang on, don't you think? Getting drunk watching 'Superfriends' with no sound, works for me.
[I am now addicted to watching Heroes off the nbc site on my laptop!]
Books:
Self-helpy/self-discovery books dominate fiction at the moment. Wait. Scratch that. I've been recently introduced to the clever hilarity that is Christopher Moore. Do yourself a favor and read "A Dirty Job"! ANYTHING BY NEIL GAIMAN. Yep.
Heroes:
Kim Shattuck and her amazing guttural roar. Lynn Breedlove and her balls.
The Great Kat and her talent. Kathleen Hanna and her smarts. Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole for being great.
