It's not who you are inside, but what you do that defines you.

About Me

My name is Dustin. I am not one of the "cool people." I am not someone who is easily accepted. I clash with many people, most often on the topic of religion. I am a Christian. That is to say I believe in the teachings of the ENTIRE Bible. I am by no means perfect, so don't misunderstand. I have my flaws and I work to correct those. I am not above reproach and I would expect anyone else to be able to accept the occasional rebuke as well. Read my "I'd like to meet" section. It's vital you understand what you're getting yourself into if you want to be my friend. I know what I want out of life and I have no time for petty distractions and upsets. Oh, and if one more person tries to convince me that all you have to do is accept Jesus into your heart as your savior and NOT keep "those pesky laws He established way back when," I'm going to poke that person in the eye. I'm j/k. But seriously, don't even go there with me. Mmkay, pumpkin? :-)
I am now engaged to Emily Sandilands. You probably already know her. And, if you know her, then you must also undoubtedly know we're engaged because she broadcasts it like Barbara Walters. :-) She is wonderful. I moved to Lusby, Maryland for my new job in July. I am an Instrumentation and Control Technician at a nuclear power plant, and I love my job and all the overtime they pay me. I am grateful to God for the new lease on life with which I've been blessed. I am something of an artist. I love to draw, I love to write poetry, I love to design clothing; I just love to create things. I like movies and music as I suppose most people our age do. I enjoy long conversations about religion or love or darkness or anything pleasant. I admire intelligence and eloquence very much. And, if eating ice-cream were a marketable skill, I'd be freakin' loaded.

My Interests

I love to write poetry and draw. (Look in my blogs for poetry, in my pics for art.) I enjoy hanging out with close friends. I collect guns and knives. I like cars, both import and domestic. I like working on and modifying my own (1992 Toyota MR2 Turbo). I adore going to concerts/recitals. I love to get dressed up formally and going out to nice places to eat. I like Colonial Williamsburg. I like to take pictures. I really like the rare occasion when I actually look GOOD in a picture. I am absolutely infatuated with travelling--especially on cruise ships. Oh yeah, and being someone's one and only.

I'd like to meet:

I ADORE religious discussion with fellow believers. However, there is a big difference in most cases between "my" type of Christianity and that of the normal mainstream Sunday-church-goer. So, I wish most of all to meet more members of the Church of God and Messianic Jews. Don't take me to be anti-social, I'll talk to anyone with something interesting to say.

Now I should be more explicit in stating who I do NOT want to meet. If you like to party; if you like to drink enough to "feel it" (lol, such a sad euphamism for inebriation); if you smoke; if you do ANY drugs; if you're promiscuous; if you are a hypocrite; if you LIE; if you like the tele-tubbies; if you hurt furry woodland creatures for pleasure; if you ever guest-starred on Peewee's Fun House--you may want to continue browsing. Despite all the other redeeming qualities you no doubt have, save us both the unpleasantry and move along to some guy who lives his life one conquest at a time.

Music:

Wow, I filled out these sections before, but now they're gone and I find myself lacking the initiative to type all my favorite musicians over again. So, suffice it to say that I hate country music and ethnic music (rap, hip hop, r&b). I equate those genres with mosquitoes: they're everywhere, they're annoying and they suck the life out of everyone while serving no apparent purpose and displaying no apparent talent. Yeah, it's like that.

Movies:

I like Batman Begins. I am something of a horror movie afficionado. All types of movies appeal to me in some way though as long as they have a decent plot, good special effects and... well that's pretty much it, lol.

Television:

Yeah, you go right ahead and surrender your mind to a bunch of televised muck. Refer to my interpretation of country and ethnic music above.

Books:

Apparently, I love the Bible. Contrary to popular myth, I do not read very often at all. It's a nice pastime that I really should get into more.

Heroes:

Aside from the givens of Scripture: Anyone who can see past their own desires and beyond the ways of the world around them to focus on that which matters most: God. Anyone who really holds themselves to the standards to which they are bound. Anyone who is humble enough to recognize, when someone close to them is rebuking their actions/words, that their someone may be speaking for more than themselves.

What IS Drunkenness?

Over the years, it has come to my attention that a great many young people with whom I've come in contact have a gross misconception of precisely how to adhere to the Biblical precepts of sobriety.&nb...

"Descent"

Descent is a very dark, fast-paced and rhythmic poem.  I try to put rhyme and meter of some kind into all of my poetry because I think it sounds alot better that way, but this one is especially s...

"Murder Is the Girl"

This first poem is about a girl who was once madly in love but then left broken-hearted by the man of her dreams, presumably for a very hurtful reason. Notice the graduated characterization of her in...

Failing Progression

I wrote this a couple of months ago at a really rough time.  I was angry.  If there were an icon of a smiley face with X's for eyes and a bloody claw hammer in its little hand, that would be...
