About Me

I guess you can say I am one of those kinds of people that wear many different hats. I grew up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado doing anything from snowmobiling, snowboarding, wakeboarding, riding horses...and of course I was the little kid that drove my parents crazy because I had no fear. I was the little dardevil who would try anything and most of the time escaped getting hurt :) I love extreme sports...My little sis and I go extreme sledding and tubing every xmas...This last christmas we took a huge innertube off the side of a snowfilled cliff...looked like we had a pretty straight shot down but that wasn't the case...lol...luckily I only walked away with 4 broken ribs... My life has been a little taste of everything and everywhere and I have learned so many things about love, life, and that pursuit of happiness...At the tender age of 17 I joined the Marine Corps looking for a challenge...lol..I get asked all the time why I did it? I honestly cannot give a good reason. One day I just decided I was bored, wasn't quite ready for college, so I left and ended up on the yellow footprints of Parris Island, S.C. with some nasty drill instructors yelling at me...LOL..nice wake up call huh. I will never regret joining or serving my time one bit. All the things I had the chance to do and experience in there from firing every full automatic weapon to meeting some of the most amazing friends I will ever meet...Love you papi, mo, tony, mary :)) There is something about being stuck out in a tent for 60 days at a time in the middle of the desert simulating war time, take field showers consisting of baby wipes, etc that gives you the sense that if you make it through all this the rest of life should be no prob....In the Marines is where I really hit my full potential as a weightlifter and fell in love with the sport...I had lifted in high school with the football team because I could "hang" with the weight being lifted...lol....I was a huge athlete growing up playing softball, basketball (point guard), Volleyball (4 yr letter winning setter), Sprinter in track (100, 200 and the 4x200). So, I was told by the guys I lifted with that I should do bodybuilding...I had never grown up with an interest in bodybuilding but with my newfound love of the gym I considered it. Me being the type of person that is fueled by being told I can't do something, it wasn't until someone told me that I could never make it through the diet part that I decided to compete. It only took that one comment and I was fueled and ready to prove wrong. I started competing in 2002 and I had never lost a show until the USA's in 2004. In 2003 I was granted the California State Overall Champ and I was stoked :) Bodybuilding has such a bad rap in many ways that in 2005, I decided to downscale my muscle and compete in the new figure division because it is more marketable. So, on a new mission I spent around 2-3 hrs a day on cardio and practically had to starve off the muscle for about 7 months. It paid off as I won my class at the 2005 California State figure Championships...Then went on to place top 10 at the National level because I still had too much muscle...If you guys could all see my athletic parents you would see where it all comes from...we are muscularly genetic family...To make a long story shorter, the starvation and hrs of cardio and not being able to weight train made Lisa very unhappy...lol...and this is way to hard of a sport to not at least enjoy some aspect of it. Soo....after much debate I made my debut back to the bodybuilding scene this year bound and determined to be that new "feminine face of bbing".....I gave it one shot this year putting all my cards and all my effort into one show, one chance. kinda like betting all on red....In Nov of 2006 I stepped onstage at the Nationals in Miami. I was confident for once that I had done everything humanly possible to be my best. 9 weeks out from the show, I picked up and moved from Southern California to Las Vegas by myself. Just me and my little mini dachshund...lol..I only knew one person when I moved out here. When you don't know anyone in a new place, there is nothing better to do when you are a bber than to eat, sleep, work, train, and do countless hours of cardio trying to reach that 3% bodyfat. Along the way I met some great people out in Vegas and I love it!! So with all my cards on red and it being the biggest women's turnout in years, I finally won my Pro Card!! I took 1st in the middleweights coming in weighing 125 lbs. I want to take this moment to personally thank everyone who has supported me, been there for me, listened to me bitch from time to time, cheered for me, sent me plane tickets donations....Thank you all!! Love you :))Over the last 5 years though i have learned this. Getting ready for these competitions is a very rough road at times as you are not really able to be "normal"....I have been competing since i was 23 years old and have missed out on a lot...A lot of nights out with the girls, backyard bbq's, you name it. So right now I am trying to find that balance in it all...Being the crazy girl that I am, I decided that I wanted to be around the party life but not necessarily be the one getting messed up...LOL....So having been a bartender before for 3 yrs, I got a nice hook up and started bartending at the Tao nightclub inside the beautifull Venetian Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.....Tao is one of the top 2 hottest nightclubs in Vegas...The people that work there are great and I met so many new friends and acquaintances...If any of you are ever in Vegas, check out the Tao!! A night to rememeber...heheSo from a country girl in Colorado, turned into a well trained Marine (Oceanside, California) who was a sharpshooter with a rifle, to bartender (California-all the way from Newport Beach to Carlsbad to Temecula), to nutritional supplement specialist at the corporate level (Anaheim, California), to National Level BBer and figure competitor (Cali), to licensed personal trainer and nutritionist (my day job from Colorado to Vegas to California), to Professional athlete (my dream one day was to be a professional athlete...i was hoping for something more like Pro Beach Volleyball player or something...lol) but this is just as rewarding :))If anyone is interested in training, nutrition or photoshoots, you can contact me on here or through my website, www.lisamariebickels.com .
