I got struck by lightning on July 26 2005. This is the story from the newspaper the day after it happened........All Jeff Crowley wanted was his keys. He wound up getting hit by a blast of lightning.Crowley was running through his back yard on Mount Pleasant Street NE in Plain Township.He had gone to his locked truck moments earlier to get a cell phone only to realize his keys were still in the house. As he ran back, he crossed under a large maple tree and smack into a wall of light.â€œEverything was a white light in front of me, and it was like someone threw a whole bunch of M-80s or firecrackers at me,â€ he said. â€œI remember it felt like I was standing on live wires and my jaw hurt.â€Crowley was one of three area people struck by lightning Tuesday night. They survived with few injuries.Crowley doesnâ€™t remember being thrown into his gravel driveway, 23 feet away from where he had been running. And he canâ€™t recall being knocked out.His wife, Danica, looked out of the house, saw him lying in the driveway and ran to him.â€œI screamed at the top of my lungs. I thought he was dead,â€ she said.After what â€œseemed like forever,â€ but was more like about 20 to 30 seconds, she was able to help him up and stumble back to the house. The lightning left a cluster of holes in the yard, each more than a foot deep.Plain Township paramedics took Crowley to Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated for a scratch to his knee and a bruised elbow-Canton rep SUPER KILLER..
