Corey "Cormat" Matthews was born and raised in the Music City of Nashville, TN. Cormat is one of the top rap stars, and leaders in the Cashville Hip Hop Community.
Feeling trapped outside the world of Hip Hop, Cormat decided to control his own destiny by launching his own imprint Big Bizne$$ Entertainment Nation. Since then, Cormat has made a name for himself by doing live performances, and opening shows for major acts such as Goodie Mob, Devin The Dude,& Jon B.,to name a few. He also performs year round at clubs throughout the South. Cormat has shown his skills on WTVF News Channel Five on a Segment they did on Hip-Hop. He has also had his lyrics quoted by the Nashville Scene Newspaper for a front page story they wrote about the Cashville Hip Hop Industry.
The year 2001 marked the year in which Cormat & Big Bizne$$ Entertainment were formerly introduced to the world. His debut album titled "Virtual Reality" hit stores in 2001. Since then Cormat has kept his name hot by making numerous guest appearances on Mix Tapes in the South. Cormat & Big Bizne$$ also has a Mix Tape Series titled: Music City Massacre that comes out every other month to showcase his new material as well as the other artist on his label. Cormat is currently doing shows to promote his latest full length studio album titled "Ghetto Celebrity". "Ghetto Celebrity" hit stores Spring 2005, and received excellent reviews from Concrete Magazine. "Ghetto Celebrity" has sold over 8,500+ copies on the street.
CORMAT will release his 3rd full-length studio album titled "Independent, But MAJOR" in 2008.Cormat is also the Founder & Chairman of the Cashville Hip Hop Movement. The Cashville Hip Hop Movement is made up of Nashville Rappers, Producers and Record Labels. This organization was formed to ensure the growth and development of Hip Hop in Nashville. Currently the CHHM meets once a month to plan, and discuss different issues that relate to our music. CORMAT & The CHHM will also releases CD Samplers/Mixtapes every quarter. The Cashville Hip Hop Movement Tour will be coming soon to a Hood near you!
CORMAT is also the Founder of the Nashville Independent Music Awards (NIMA) and a Senior Member of the NIMA Music Association. The 1st Annual NIMA Awards were held in Nashville, TN on August 11th 2007. The 2nd Annual NIMA Awards will be held in Nashville, TN in August 2008.
