I am interested in vegan/cruelty-free living. I am relatively new to this aspect of my life and sometimes do not feel very supported at home (not their fault, they just don't understand), so I am very interested in sharing recipes or just tips on how to keep going with others in the same situation with the same values. Why go Vegan? All around us today, the natural world is under attack. Pollution, deforestation, and systematic cruelty to animals. These forces are rapidly destroying the planet upon which we live. But how can one person make any difference? The answer is as close as your dinner plate. Thousands of people across the country are standing up for animals and the environment by adopting a vegan lifestyle. Vegans take personal responsibility for making the world a better place by giving up meat, dairy products, and other animal derived items. That simple choice has powerful consequences. Veganism saves animals from the horrors of the slaughterhouse, reduces pollution from factory farms, and preserves soybeans and grain for the millions of malnourished people in our hungry world.
I would like to meet the Dalai Lama. Who wouldn't? Of course, I am afraid I would act like a kid meeting a rock star and therefore, embarrass the hell out of myself, but it might be fun.
I enjoy most music, except country. My husband likes to tinker with electronic sounds and that is pretty hip. I wish I played an instrument, but for now I play a mean CD player.
I will read whatever I can get my hands on, no matter the subject matter. Once in a while I stumble onto something wonderful. Right now I am reading a book called "The Pig Who Sang to the Moon", and after reading some of the passages I just cannot fathom ever returning to any meat or animal product.
I have few heroes in my life. That might be the issue with the world today, not enough heroes to go around. I have met many people through myspace that are heroes in their own right. In some ways my kids fill that role for me, in others it is my husband. Anyone who can keep their cool is pretty dang neat in my opinion. But to be brutally honest with myself, I really do not like people in general.
