About Me

I am lots of things. Sometimes I am a comic. I am not a normal man, or as my friend Don says " I am not correct!" I certainly like cable television and wine. I have three cats, a goldfish, and joint custody of a dog. I don't give care what your ethics or morals are as long as you don't judge mine. Now let's fucking get the party started. With a resume including guerilla theater, touring clubs and colleges, and opening for seventies rock legends Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, Brian Giles’ thought provoking political and social commentary have kept audiences laughing for more than five years. "I am a sometimes comedian, carpenter, archaeologist, environmental scientist, and data enterer. I worked as a line cook, processed blueberries and played some guitar badly." Say's Giles. Early in his childhood Giles sought out beta discs of Steve Martin, Steven Wright, and Eddie Murphy. Later he enveloped himself in a cassette tape cocoon of political heavies like George Carlin and the late underground legend Bill Hicks. As a result of their influence and his own drive Brian began performing in high school, opening for garage bands, and eventually started his own professional stand-up career. Shortly after high school, Giles studied with Henry Wishcamper of Yale's improvisational group The Purple Crayon. He then moved on to become a member of other improvisational/sketch comedy troupes The Farm, and Shenanigans. Currently he is a member of the sketch/improvisational/guerilla theater comedy troupe The Escapists. An early career highlight came in August of 1999 when Giles opened for Elvis impersonator Jack Smink on the twenty-second anniversary of the King's death. Jason Wilkins of the Maine Times wrote "Would he leave the crowd choking with merriment or get booed off the stage? I need not have worried. Brian came out, took the microphone, and did a solid set." Since then, Giles has hiked 1,150 miles of the Appalachian Trail, graduated college with BA in Geography-Anthropology and a minor in Philosophy, labored as a Louisiana archaeologist, and received a spinal tap. All of these experiences have contributed to Giles’ stage dynamic.

Someday I want to build my own hand hewn post and beam, solar-wind powered, straw bale house on my beautiful 60 acres in Alexander, Maine. Check out my blog to learn more.
