Crucial Sound System

It started over 5 years ago when a Long Beach Dj " Sonic Dread " wanted to put on a reggae night at a local club .With the help of dj / promoter Prince Rodi of Good Foot fame . The night was started in Jan of 2003 a month before Sonic Dreads band " Dub Knettics" played at the Prospector . That night Prince Rodi ask dj Gregory-G to spin some tunes at the Gig . In January of 03 Sonic ,Prince Rodi and Gregory-G held the first Crucial at the Prospector . Playing a variety of Roots ,Dub and Dancehall reggae . On the first night we had 4 turntables and 3 mixers so that,one person in the middle could just do effects . It was a great idea but the sound wasn't so hot so we went with the basic set up . A couple of months down the line we added Virgina Slim to our dj line up . We later put a second dj system in the back room just to play dub . 2 years into our monthly Prince Rodi moved to the Land of the Rising Sun " Japan " got married and recently started a club in Japan . We have also added MC Chicho from Far East Sound , he has become an important part of our sound system . Crucial Sound system has played at some of the biggest reggae events in Southern California .
