The Savants
sa-'vänt : a learned person
Autumn 2005; five musical associates are introduced through mutual friends and meet for an impromptu medley in a dilapidated West London studio. It soon becomes clear that this is to be no one-off rehearsal, but the bare bones of a musical endeavour that will eventually lead to formation of The Savants .
The band promptly record the Please demo, showcasing the tattered sentiment of When please is all that you have left with alluring ode Oxygen and pop melodies of So many suns .
Between them, front man Prasanna 'Prezley' Ram, guitarists Sam Whitlock and Scott Tucker, bassist Adam Whalley and drummer Jamie Carmichael capture an intense and passionate energy, playing earnest emotionally-charged songs to a melodic heartbeat. With wide-ranging influences and backgrounds, The Savants bring a kaleidoscope of sound and infectious melodies to a monochrome world.
The steadfast self-belief among the five-piece remains as strong as ever. With new material and a second demo currently in development, The Savants continue to bring the music to the unsuspecting masses across the capital.
