About Me

OK, I'm not gonna bother saying much about myself... anyone who sees this already knows me, knows someone who knows me, or otherwise somehow knows something about me. If ya wanna know more, just ask. (Though answers aren't necessarily guaranteed.)

My Interests

Trying to enjoy Life... but the balance of play and responsibility seems to be eluding me.

I like education, science and technology, medical sci/tech, and other nerd stuff. Oh yeah... and motorbikes, of course.
But I especially love to hang out with my daughter. She is the coolest person I have ever met. She's brilliant and funny and she helps keep me from being old and boring.

I'd like to meet:

Okay, not a person, but I'd like to go there.

Music:

The music you listen to is like the soundtrack to your life.... sounds cheesy, I know, but oh well. I know I'm a dork... if you don't like it, move on.

My musical taste is based on individual songs or pieces of music rather than broad genres or particular artists, so my soundtrack includes everything from the Ramones to Rachmaninov ... George Strait to Green Day ... J Lo to Johnny Cash ... Bob Marley to the Beatles ... you get the idea.

I especially like a lot of indie stuff. Check out KUPS during their "Alternative" schedule timeslots for an idea of the variety of music I tend to listen to. Click HERE to listen online. And don't hesitate to make a request. If they have it, they'll usually play it.

THESE CHICKS TOTALLY ROCK!! I saw them at Hell's Kitchen several years ago... enjoy.

Movies:

WOOHOO!! SIMPSONS MOVIE F'N ROCKS!!!

I don't usually have a lot of time to watch movies, but I do enjoy them when I can. My taste in movies resembles my musical interests....

Some of my favorites (in no particular order):

Pulp Fiction, A Clockwork Orange, The Incredibles, Amadeus, Braveheart, Dr. Strangelove, Easy Rider, Forest Gump, The Great Escape, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, The Ring, It's a Wonderful Life, Cry Baby, Mary Poppins, Nightmare Before Christmas....

I like a lot of quirky independent films too, like Rubin & Ed, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Clerks, Hedwig and the Angry Inch... just about anything by Quentin Tarantino.

Television:

Simpsons, History Channel, Discovery Health Channel, PBS, Three Stooges... and lots of other fun (though mostly educational) stuff...

This, boys and girls, is quality programming...

Books:

The Oxford English Dictionary. No joke, I could sit for hours browsing through a dictionary... and, yes, I realize how much of a dork that makes me... I also keep all of my textbooks, especially the Chem and Biology books, for "casual" reading as well as useful reference.
I have read some "normal" books also.... again, very eclectic taste: Asimov's I, Robot, Homer's Odyssey, most of the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel, Jonathon Livingston Seagull...
And, of course, countless children's books... (bedtime stories have been a sacred ritual for my daughter and me since she was a baby). We've read Arthur, nearly everything by Dr. Seuss, Good Night Moon, Frog and Toad, Guess How Much I Love You, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Rumplestiltskin, Rapunzel, The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, James and the Giant Peach, the poetry of Shel Silverstein, Where the Wild Things Are, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tom Sawyer.... and literally hundreds more.... I've forgotten many of them

Heroes:

Banana Man ... (anybody else remember this?)
