The Normal Humans

My smile is stuck I cannot go back t'yer Frownland

About Me

so it used to be just me, playing with my laptop for accompanyment (!!) , well, got me out and onto some stages at least... did a kindof sparse tour back to vancouver that way, back in montreal, got jon on the drums and started playing rock, roll, ear bleeding country waltzes, and such. once in a while we've managed to sneak zac onto a stage with us, as well, to fill out the bottom end with the bass. last couple shows were just acoustic guitar, one solo, one with sarah helping me sing, and throwing down hot harmonica licks. and there were all these people at that show spontaneously whistling along in the whistling parts, it was pretty cool. and kindof eerie sounding!so yeah, we used to be hard rocking. lately we're more country. more chilled out. but we'll probably do some hard rocking again, because , hey, its fun! and cathartic. *skrANNNggg* . but we're also working on restraint. and making a record. ! for real!! well maybe it'll be a cd. but y'know records are nicer.

My Interests

Music:

and the normal angels emma and maica sing lovely harmonies
and sarah tracy threw down once at the cove which was quite nice of her

Influences: oh, y'know. the classics. sure love them classics. small rooms. low ceilings. being tall. shaving, but not every day, or every two days., but, when it feels like the moment is right. the sound of a guitar when its leaning against a palm tree on a beach in mexico, and the wind is blowing off of the caribbean, and the guitar is at just such an angle, and the wind makes the strings vibrate like the music of the spheres echoing through the universe. winter biting my cheeks and ears and my thumbs while i'm carrying a six pack of bottles of cuivrée from the dep to the studio and my thumbs feel like they are going to crack off, and i wonder, will i be able to play guitar, with no thumbs? my acoustic guitar, is norman, and my electric guitar, her name is daisy. the other normal humans have a hate on for daisy. but she is the perfect fit in exploding exploding. which is not a noise band, featuring will austin and scott monk. its just a really loud band. with some noisy bits.yep, on norman, i once wrote this epic song called "an intergalactic space marine known only as norman flies into battle around pluto for what may be the last time" that one was a real classic, i wish i could remember it. but luckily i don't really remember how to play too many songs from my teen years.neil young, he's pretty good. and , whats that guy, bob dylan? and i really enjoyed the animals the other day, i hadn't listened to them in years, i used to have a tape of their greatest hits when i was a teenager. i worked in this like, used cd / vinyl store when i was in highschool, and i'd get paid partly in trade, so a lot of tapes, and partly in cash, and maybe a bit in weed. it was pretty good. the stereo there kicked ass, listening to zeppelin 3 cranked , crystal clear sounding, and my friend dropping by, telling me he heard the tunes two blocks away. so good.
Sounds Like: a professional rock band. . .

shit , yeah, this is THE NORMAL HUMANS (featuring zac of the ideal lovers making me and jon normal by turning us into a classic rock power trio) kicking out fan favourite june kitchen during the unpop festival, september 9 at l'absynthe... thanks ben for making the video, seb for unpopping montreal, and the folks who stayed and DANCED WITH RECKLESS ABANDON !! EVEN WALTZING !! fun times. features a very rare use of flanger! CRAZY! it was a phase i was going through. phase. phaser. phaser i was going through. flange?

queen bitch at barfly september 7. chaos reigned. we closed with "shakin' all over" segueing into "now i wanna be yr dog"... this is a chunk of the dog.

and below, this was the poster for the w.a.e. debut show. chris-a-riffic said i was three shades of jerk, because i wasn't actually leaving vancouver the next day. but i did have real dog bites from a real police dog. still have the scars! rcy and myself printed these demons on butcher paper... thanks to k-10 for the paper!! ink!! etc!! my very own design i'll have you know... worth millions in mint/near mint condition on Ebay, these suckers... if yer lucky enough to find one!
