Band Members: FELLI*

Felli’s love of music started back in the day breakdancing in the middle of the street on 2 big pieces of cardboard, busting out headspins and windmills to the freshest hip-hop beats. But it was in his teen years when he when he fell in love with alternative dance music, although still needing that funky beat, listening to groups like Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Nitzer Ebb, and Front 242. Then in early 1991 while working at bar he heard a totally new innovative sound called Techno. A few months later he purchased his 1st set of decks, practicing every day and night while his mother was complaining about this boom boom music. His persistence would lead him to make his mark on the NYC House scene.
Having been djing since 1991, Felli became record buyer for Special Sauce in 1994 and after becoming one of the resident dj’s for then notorious NY Rave club Caffeine (1995-1997) the logical progression was to get into the studio and produce something special he could consider his own. After spending years of long hours championing their production skills the crew became ready to release some original material, having released their first record in 1998 on Caffeine Records (two more breaks records would quickly follow.) But having known that it would be a very difficult task to get all of their productions signed by other labels they decided the only way their music would be released was to form a label they could call their own. In 2002 their first deep house label, Unyted Recordings (deep jazzy house) was born. Stupendous Music would follow just weeks later.

ETHAN*

In the early 1990's Ethan put aside his skateboard and traded up for his first set of decks. After a year of testing the waters and mastering the art of record mixing, Ethan got his first taste of playing live at the 48 hour New Year's party at the legendary club Caffeine. Shortly after that he began playing once a month at Caffeine's bigger "Natural High" parties and it wasn't long before he was a weekly resident with long time partners, Buddy and Felli. As time progressed, so did Ethan's tastes and style of mixing, taking party goers and friends on seemless journeys into the essence of the dance counterculture. Eventually, mixing other people's records didn't completely satisfy his creative energies. He felt a need to express more than what a mixer and turntables could accomplish. Like a virtual caterpillar, Ethan turned his Brooklyn apartment into his cocoon, as he learned the ins and outs of electronic record producing and remixing. The first butterfly to emerge was "Faraway" by The 5 Points Gang on uNYted Recordings. Since that release, he has come to put together numerous tracks and remixes, releasing over 20 records as a solo artist under Army of One, as an ensemble under 3brotherstrong, and as a collaborator under the name, NYCO. In the Spring/Summer of 2003 he was signed to Worship Records and Warbled/Espionage, and is now deep in the studio working on numerous projects, as well as doing A&R and producing for Stupendous Music and his new label Brazen Beats.

BUDDY*

The Buddysystem has been producing and DJing music for over a decade. Buddy’s roots in the underground stemmed from the city of New York. He is known for laying out his own brand of twisted house music shaped by proficiency and experimentation behind the decks. In the early nineties Buddy found himself involved in the underground music circuit as a buyer at the now defunct distribution company, Nemesis Music, located in Long Island, New York. With a job as a buyer of the music he was promoting and DJing, Buddy was given the opportunity to make the necessary contacts within the circuit. His DJing career quickly took off as he held a weekly residency at Caffeine (Long Island’s legendary nightclub) and started touring coast to coast, playing alongside DJs: Mazi, Ian Pooley, Halo, Keoki, Donald Glaude, and Jazzy Nice, among others. Buddy’s original productions and collaborative projects have appeared on such labels as Caffeine, Hypnotic, Big Chief, Brazen Beats, Warbled and Care Recordings.
