About Me

ORIGINATING AS A STRAIGHT-OUT 3-PIECE ROCK BAND, DEAR JOHN HAVE BUILT ON THEIR STRENGTHS BY UTILISING LOOPS, ABSTRACT SOUNDS AND SUBTLE ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL ELEMENTS.

MERGING TECHNOLOGY WITH THEIR ENERGETIC LIVE VIBE, DEAR JOHN DEVELOPED INTO A MUCH DARKER, MORE INTROSPECTIVE AND OFTEN CYNICAL ELECTRO-ROCK BAND. SOFT, HEART-FELT HARMONIES PLAY-OFF AGAINST HEAVY EXPLOSIONS OF ENERGY AND FORCE; THE RESULTING SOUND IS CHAOTIC YET CONSOLING.

WITH FLUID MELODIES ENHANCED BY AMBIENT GROOVES THAT UNDERPIN THOUGHT-PROVOKING LYRICS, THE SYNTHETIC ULTIMA DRUNGE ICONS COMPEL THE LISTENER TO DISCOVER THE CONFLICTING PERSONALITY OF DEAR JOHN. THE ATMOSPHERIC UNDERTONES GENERATED BY THE BAND ARE ROOTED IN THE EVOCATIVE PERFORMANCES, THE CONFESSIONAL NATURE WITHIN THE WORDS ALLOWING THE LISTENER TO TAKE AND RECEIVE DEAR JOHN'S LYRICAL LETTERS.

Scott Macleod (Drums, Samples)
Paul Symons (Bass)

Influences:
Sounds Like: "With the noodly production values of Muse, the tortured vocal harmonies of Radiohead and the hard rock guitars of Life of Agony, Dear John are intelligent musicians with a clear and precise vision."
Metal Hammer

"A densely-textured haze of loops, synth squeals, thunderous bass and heavy guitar, all caught in a pristine, richly reverbed production that has that glossy-but-scuzzy Nine Inch Nails thing going on. Its slick, its vivid and it's out of step with what's current in an interesting way."

"Electro-Grunge! Dear John have come up with an interesting and sometimes inventive demo which takes some basic grunge riffs and tarts them up with a raft of industrial beats and samples. Dear John have a talent worth investigating."

"Calling all hardcore rock obsessives. This is your new heaven."
