I have made a huge decision and I want you my friends to know about it.
This is a long one so sit back and relax and let me tell you about the future and the past.
As long as most of you have known me you have known me as a Rock singer. That's cool. I have loved being a rock singer since the age of 16. BUT things have changed.
Now lets go back a few years so this will make sense.
I was raised in Tennessee where Country and The Blues were king.
So obviously I rebelled and started a rock band: )
In 1989 I moved to LA with my band CHILDREN.
In the early 90's out here in LA I was proud to be a long haired, metal screaming, leather clad guy on the sunset strip. Pretty damned good at it too.
Well....in 1995 I became a dear friend of cocaine and any other substance I could put up my nose. I was drinking more than any man should.
I thought it best to move (on a whim) to Austin Texas. There I got clean (for a while) and rediscovered Country/American rock/soul that Austin bleeds from her skin.
I recorded a 3 song EP that I brought back with me to LA. Yep that's right, couldn't wait to get back to LA and lay this new found direction and love on an unsuspecting audience.
My plan was to do "extra work" for TV and film during the day so I had my nights free for music. It wasn't long before directors on set were giving me lines to read. Before I knew it I was a union working actor. HOW THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN? HA HA.
Starred in a few real bad movies and then wound up on several TV shows. 2 years had gone by when I realized I hadn't played one show of my own music!
Then the acting work starting drying up.
By 2000 I was lost. I moved to Florida to get my head together. 8 months later I loaded up the van that would be my home for 2 years, and headed back out to LA.
While living in my Van under a bridge in Burbank I wrote hundreds of songs. I was fully prepared to return to the Blues Texas rock I was proud of when.....A metal band that remembered me from years ago, offered me a place to stay and a CD to record. I couldn't say no. That band disbanded a few years later.
Then I hooked up with my friend Jeff Abercrombie from Fuel to start producing. GREAT!
Then we started writing for others. GREAT!
Then I was a runner up on CBS Rockstar Super Nova. GREAT!
Then Mike Elsner and I met and hit it off and starting writing really good songs. We formed a semi heavy band and called it Chasing Saints. GREAT!
Then..........last week I realized none of it made me really happy.
The blues makes me happy.
Southern Rock makes me happy.
Gospel makes me happy. So.......This is what I decided.....
I have quit my band CHASING SAINTS to pursue a stripped down solo Americana career.
I still want the best for the guys in Chasing Saints. They are my dear friends and always will be but, life is short. Follow your bliss.
I hope you all dig my old/new direction. I have found my faith and I know my calling. Thank you for reading.
Wade Williams
Bio:Hi Im Wade Hunt Williams, and yes that is my real name: )~
Singer/songwriter on a mission to move you when you hear me sing. Move you to dance, laugh, or even cry. I want to affect you with my voice and the passion I harbor inside for music.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
my mission is to be an artist that is seen as one who unites people with themselves through music. You see I have come to the realization that the only reason for us to be on this planet is to be good to each other. That may sound corny and naive but coming from someone like me who has been through hell and lives to tell his story, it is an epiphany.
Forgive me if this is starting to sound mushy: )
Im a survivor of many abuses and addictions. I turned that anger and isolation inward for a long time and hurt myself and the ones who tried to love me. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, (not so long ago I might add) that the one thing missing among all my "talents" and abilities was....people. You got to love yourself to love others kinda thing. And loving others is the end goal.
Now most of my songs are about going through adversity and coming out on the other side better and stronger. Songs that everyone can relate to. What you have heard on the myspace are just a few examples of that.
These are a few of the things some friends have said about me:
"Wade Williams ..... there's a mystique about him, an appeal that makes you wanna get inside his head. But when he sings, there is NO MISTAKING, because a soulful, emotionally gripping voice, that's powered by something supernatural, will stir you to the core. Listen to him, now!!!" Deanna Johnston
"The real f..%king deal" Mike Duda, W.A.S.P
"Rockstar, hardest working person I have ever known" Jeff Abercrombie, FUEL
"Baddass!" Jason Newsted, Metallica/Supernova
"Powerful" Gilby Clarke, Guns and Roses/Supernova.
"Really enjoyed the vocals" Billy Duffy, THE CULT
"Your talent and persona astounds me. Your voice rocks my soul at its very core. I know you as a friend and as an artist and in both regards, you are truly a superstar. Never lose the faith in everything that is you." MiG Ayessa (Rockstar INXS)
