Right now, my two biggest interests are biking, and fencing.
I love riding my bike, regardless of the weather or other situations. If I get wet, what's the big deal? I have more clothes.
Its' my zone. It's where I do most of my best thinking, and I love speeding down the bike path, faster than pretty much everyone else.
If I'm in a bad mood, I'll go for a bike ride, and almost always feel better.
I Also love fencing. I go as often as I can, and I love it. I fence Epee, which is a heavier weapon than Foil or Saber. Also unlike foil and saber, the whole body is the target, and there is no right of way. Meaning, I can hit when and where I want. The epee is a heavier, stiffer blade than a foil, and until it became a weapon primarily for fencing, it was the dueling sword. When the authorities in the 19th century decided that they didn't like the killing aspect of the duel, they changed it to a first-blood sport. All of a sudden, a duel required much more skill, as even a cut on the wrist or hand would end it all. Thus, they widened the bell guard to protect the hand and wrist. These rules transferred over to the sport, thus making epee a "no rules" engagement, where cors a cors(bellguard to bellguard contact) is allowed, and even limited physical contact between fencers.
I like metalworking, including machining, welding, and blacksmithing.
I like all sorts of weapons.
I have a broadsword hanging on my wall, and I have an assortment of knives lying around. I like to shoot guns for target practice but not really anything more.
By the way, I'm a crackshot(just ask Will or Ed), so dont mess with me in an airsoft match.
I should probably also mention video games. I like playing video games, although its not something I do as much as I used to. I have a Wii and a DS lite, as well as several older consoles, such as an NES, an SNES, an N64, a Commodore 64, and a Dreamcast. As big a part of my life as they've been, I'm losing a bit of interest in them, I think. I got Bioshock recently, and its a fantastic game, but I just dont feel like playing it.
Anyone interesting, and as Adam says, "People not utterly indoctrinated into the sheeple mentality. That is to say, independent thinkers are the kind of people I like."
Intelligent people as well. I cannot abide stupidity.
Thats not to say I'm mean to people I consider stupid. I am chronically nice and polite, and I can get along well with most people. I'm just anti-social.
In no specific order, Queen, the Beatles, Green Day(some), The Decemberists, System of a Down, Weird Al, the Dandy Warhols, Johnny Cash, Electric Light Orchestra, Tom Lehrer, DragonForce, Sonata Arctica, and a lot of individual songs from other artists.
I've been listening to a lot of power metal, recently.
Movies I have seen and really enjoyed in the last year or so....
Hot Fuzz
Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny
Chasing Amy
I'll update this later, as my mind just went completely blank after those three movies.
But, I like some Action movies, and Comedies, mostly.
I really don't watch TV anymore. There are few shows I actually like, and if I like them enough to waste my time on them, I'll just download them and watch them at my convenience instead of theirs. Family Guy, Futurama, Robot Chicken, and The Simpsons, and Scrubs are just about all the TV I actually watch. |
Thats a sketch David Silverman(head animator of the simpsons) drew for me.
James Clavelle, David Eddings, L.E. Modesitt Jr, Christopher Stasheff, Larry Niven, John Varley, George RR Martin, Of course, there are tons of other books I have read and liked, they just dont come to mind right now.
Cody Mattern, Shigeru Miyamoto, Winston Churchill, Sir William Stephenson, Eric Shwartz, Carlz0r, Erik Von Lickjermaum, and of course, Dr. Cox and The Todd from scrubs. Also Kristen(we did a hero swap)
