I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm Adam, 28. I'm from New York, but moved to New Mexico about 14 years ago.I have worked as a stainless steel fabricator, and in the exotic animal trade/breeding/rescue/rehab business for the past 15+ years.I currently work for the state of NM through an agency, providing Personal Care services to individuals with developmental disabilities. I've been doing that for ~7 years (officially). I also am the sometime tech support for the agency.I also am a coach and official for Special Olympics New Mexico. I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

My Interests

Swordfighting (I have been swordfighting with Amtgard for about 13 years), Herptiles, birds and other exotic animals, dickin around on my computer.

I'd like to meet:

People not utterly indoctrinated into the sheeple mentality. That is to say, independent thinkers are the kind of people I like.

Music:

Mostly classic rock, Queen, Queensryche, Def Leppard, Ted Nugent, etc. I also like the stuff Flogging Molly does, as well as NOFX, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Bad Religion, etc.

Movies:

I like a lot in the way of movies. Action (so long as they have plot), Comedy (so long as they are actually funny), Drama, a big fan of the Romero Living Dead series.

Television:

ER, NYPD Blue, Law and Order, Charmed, Knight Rider, Simpsons, most anything on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel. Oh, and Definitely Penn & Teller's Bullshit.

Books:

Anything by David and Leigh Eddings, big fan of Harry Turtledove, and overall, just a big fan of the science-fiction and fantasy genres.

Heroes:

I look up to people who have made me think in ways that I hadn't done before.

My Blog

I am honestly terrified to be an American right now.

First read this:http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SCOTUS_LETHAL_IN JECTION?SITE=MAQUI&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULTThe Supreme Court basically said that, because you cannot voice that you ...

One into four. It’s like magic.

So right after my birthday, I bought myself a baby Leopard gecko (I've done a lot of reptile rescue rehab/relocation/breeding/etc. in the past) at Petsmart for $30. I picked him because he was a circl...

Life's a Beach

A very short story. This one borrows the title character from John Updike's "The Lifeguard." I inserted myself as a character as well. Life's a Beach     "Good God," I complained...

Same warning as in the first one. The Game Prologue     It was a dark and stormy night. Okay, so it wasn't really dark or stormy, but it sounded cool; actually it was a bright and cle...

Piracy and Society

I wrote this last year, but decided to put it up now. By now we've all read, hear, seen or otherwise assimilated some knowledge on piracy. It is unavoidable, we hear about it all the time, from the ...

Who's that Spartan with junk in the trunk?

So I'm back in the desert, and there is a chicken in my yard. A funky looking one at that. Now, granted, I am not in the middle of the city, but really, a chicken? And it's an agro chicken too. Little ...

Ponderings of an irritable sot.

I last cut my hair (besides the yearly take an inch deal) 11 years ago, just before I had my surgery for skin cancer. I donated the ponytail to Locks of Love back then. Which is somewhat ironic, all t...
