I got the acting bug while attending high school in Amherst, MA, taking advantage of the extensive drama program there (a native of Harrisburg, PA, I grew up throughout the Northeast). When not honing my dramatic skills, I was hurling down mountains as a member of the US Junior National Luge Team. (This being the late eighties, the sport was still new the States, so the team mostly competed all over Europe.)
I pursued my interest in drama via an academic scholarship to Sarah Lawrence College in New York's Westchester County, where I also studied philosophy, religion, film, sculpture and fiction writing. It didn't take long for me to begin getting work in New York City. I was then honored at the Sundance Film Festival. As far as The Crow is concerned, I was quite familiar with its urban gothic world -- The Crow was the first film I ever auditioned for. One of the things that drew me to the project -- aside from the opportunity to pay respect to the work of Brandon Lee -- was the challenge of personifying a new Crow that would appeal to long-term fans while not being a mere echo of Lee's iconagraphic performance.
