Influences: Whether it's the singer, the player, the band, the writer, the producer, the arranger, it's how you make the music touch my soul. These people have in some way present and past just to name a few. There are far too many to name.Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Bob Marley, Ray Charles, Coltrane, Miles, Monk, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Tom Waits,Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Chris Whitley, Seal, Lewis Taylor, Marcus Miller, Lalah Hathaway, Aretha Franklin,Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Ashford & Simpson, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Al Green, The Meters, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Tower of Power, Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Paul Simon, Mahler, Stravinsky, BarberThe local NYC musicians who bounce sounds off each and every gig. They are the true influences.
Sounds Like: Sounds like nothing you can pinpoint, but has often been compared to Seal meets a Memphis/Austin sound. Pop Hooks, R&B/Pop/Singer/Songwriter changes and grooves.Definately brings to mind an OLD SOUL feel with heavy musicianship.Words that make you think and grooves and chord changes that bring to mind everything from Prince to Al Green's Memphis style sound to Storyville to Seal depending on the players in the band.
