If someone talks about music, then Detroit has and
will always be considered as the "Innovator" for the
entire music industry. If someone talks about
house/techno music club/dance scene, then Detroit has
and will always be considered as the "Elevator" for
the entire club scene. If someone talks about an
"Originator", then Detroit artits, DJ's and producers
ALL deserve the credit because everytime you HEAR a
"weird noise or sound or bleep or echo" in whatever
form of music..trance, hip-hop, d-n-b, house, reggae,
soca, new age, ghetto tech or minimal, it is techno.
And, it came from Detroit. My city. Our city. Our
sound.
Since we were all a part of the music revolution,
DETROIT FIGHT CLUB firmly believes that the soldiers
that HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN must be respected and
remembered. And more importantly, the artform of DJing
that set Detroit DJ's apart from the rest of the world
HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN as well.
DETROIT FIGHT CLUB cannot and will not forget the
"Originators" that brought us from watching "The New
Dance Show" or "The Scene" afterschool to the present
and what is now the D.E.M.F./Movement. And, the soul
of the closed clubs of Detroit's past like The Dancery,
Music Institute, Latin Quarter, Wildlife Society Hall,
the Aruba, Heaven, Taboo, the Warehouse (1st
appearence and performance of Mc Lyte and Audio
Two)and UBQ's still sing their own quiet songs of joy
in a city that did not support the house/techno/rap
music scene of the 80's.
DETROIT FIGHT CLUB cannot and will not forget the fact
that the "D.E.M.F./Movement" truly began with the
MIDNIGHT FUNK ASSOCIATION hosted and conceived by the
Electrifying Mojo. Every single night on the
radio-Sunday through Saturday, the Mothership radio
transmissions opened the minds of everyone to the
different genres of music and allowed us to see into
the "past, present and future of music, our culture
and the world."
DETROIT FIGHT CLUB cannot and will not forget the DJ's
who treasured, shaped and developed our Detroit Music
Scene like Ric Wilhite, Will Guest, the 7
D.W.A.R.F.S., Tink Thomas, Duane in the mix Bradley,
Ken Collier, The Mystro, Ray Berry, Chis Price, Jesse
the Body, Steve Haynes, DJ Zapp, Gary Chandler, The
Rotator, DJ Dangerous, DJ Energy, DJ 1315, Andre
Johnson, Lynn Swann and ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE
MIX-A-DOME CONCEIVED AND STARTED BY the ELECTRIFYING
MOJO!!!! Every Detroit DJ tuned in not only to listen
but to support each other!!!
DETROIT FIGHT CLUB is here to reclaim the vanishing
art of DJing, to show the entire world the art of
modern mixing, to keep alive the art of Detroit style
mixing and to bring together everyone that loves music
whether it is house, techno or hip-hop music.
