About Me

The term "808" relates to the sound of the drum that has defined Hip Hop from the genesis... the legendary Roland TR808 drum machine... It's what creates that BUMP for the TRUNK... Yet, before the 808, there was a drum, a natural drum, that created the same BUMP... 808 Media takes a natural voice and magnifies it through the media process by- Conceptualizing, booking, promoting and managing events- Producing and performing music- Designing promotional material, websites and original artwork- Developing, managing and conducting public relations programs for the entertainment industry, community groups, and socially and environmentally responsible businesses.

Anchored by The 808 Band- a full live band- the night traverses through a seamless mix of funky styles, from Robert Herrera’s Jamaican Rock Steady meets California soul, to Bicasso’s underground urban slammers, to Sonicbloom's socially conscience hip-hop lyricism.ABOUT BICASSOWielding pen and paintbrush, microphone and canvas, the artist and self-proclaimed "spiritual guide" of the crew, leaves his mark; something he refers to as Paintbrushfunk-originalius. Musically, Bicasso has tapped into a wide variety of inspirational sources ranging from Sly Stone, Bootsy, and Jimi Hendrix, to Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, and Outkast. His socially pertinent lyrics are rooted in the legacy of liberation and the struggle for humanity worldwide with a concentration on his immediate surroundings in an effort to have us all sipping mimosa blends on the side of our favorite getaway retreat just long enough to clear our minds and make our next revolutionary move. You see, Bicasso recognizes that while the revolution will not be televised, it might just make it to an ipod near you so he practices impeccable presentation.Residing in Oakland CA, his resources and influence are creatively fertile and have produced an end product which can only be fully understood through feelings, emotion and a twist of comical imagination. One of Bicasso's strongest constitutions is his visual mind. His never-ending search for the next new thing has plunged him, unwittingly into a loosely formulated live blend of painting performance and lyrical prose, conducted by his Dj E da Boss (Slept On records, Blackalicious). While on stage he may be flanked by three glamorous models which he refers to as the "Ladies of Ambi" (short for ambiance), as well as various background singers and musicians, whose lead is always the bass heavy, banging beats and catchy chorus lines that dictate an eye opening good time. Basically, come to a Bicasso show and expect the unexpected, leave fulfilled and with true look into the future of rap by one of it's most visionary, original and pertinent artists. ***compare to morris day, early ice cube, dizzy gillespie, digable planets, fishbone, gang starr, miles, outkast...***Saturday, March 10, 2007: 808 Media and Kleome Present: “Stylus, I’m The Drummer, He’s The DJ” - a funky synthesis of live breaks, dope cuts and fresh lyrics, featuring DJ Quest, DJ Teeko, MC Dublin, Stylus All Star Band.Saturday, March 10, 2007, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. At The Elbo Room, 647 Valencia St. San Francisco, CA 94110, www.elbo.com, (415) 552-7788, 21 + Sponsored by Scion.Starring...DJ Quest of Live Human/Space Travelerz- original scratch creator, performing a special 2-hour solo set.Teeko of 4OneFunk's revolutionary turntable styles and innovating skillThe Stylus All-Star Band, 100% Live- 100% Freestyle, 100% FRESH! featuring...Teeko (4OneFunk) - Turntables Big G The Funky Drummer (808 Band) - Drums Billy Bones (Baysix/4OneFunk) – Bass MC Dublin (Shotgun Wedding Quintet)- MicParty Rockin by DJ Satva (Kleome)Saturday, March 10, 2007 Elbo Room 647 Valencia St San Francisco, CA 94110 www.elbo.com (415) 552-7788 $10 @ Door, $5 Before 11 p.m. 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. 21 +
