GUT WRENCH as we are known now, started in July of 2001 with the lineup as : Brad-Drums and Brewing, Kevin-Bass, Mark-Guitar/Vox, and Matt-2nd guitar/BgVox.(IF YOU KNOW, OR SEE MATT, KICK HIS ASS!!!) Before that we experimented with cover songs and such with some other people, but we actually really started in July. We coined the name GutWrench having to do with two things: 1.) Our early sound made you want to vomit. 2.) It went well with our booze habit. Vomiting took/takes place quite often. We practiced 2-3 times per week until about October 2001 at which time we played our first show @ Burd's house in Hayward, with about 10-12 friends watching us. The Disgraces played with us, and after our less-than-good set, we swiftly cozied up to the keg. Anyway, our first good show was @ Red Morton in Redwood City in Jan. 2002. Kev wuz a bit too drunk to play right, but it still rocked. We then had a few more shows lined up that all got cancelled due to a few flaky fux. Around april of 2002 Matt developed a crystal-methamphetamine habit and started fuking us over. He was almost imeadiately replaced in June 2002 by Robert from SM Law. Then we started rockin' and rollin' again. Around August 2002 there was some inter-personal conflict between Rob and Kev, so Rob left that September. From then on we were a three-piece outfit. Our next show, that we dedicated to our incarcerated friend Ben(Disgraces), @ the Sandpiper in Redwood Shores was a decent show, that we played with Death Squad. Unfortunately Ben's status is relatively unknown. Next we recorded our "Gin & Juice Demo"(that's what we were drinkin when we were recording...go figure) in January 2003. To this date it's our only worthwhile recording. Then out of nowhere, in late may of this year Kev & Rob buried the hatchet and Rob rejoined us on 2nd guitar. We played one show in Half Moon Bay, @ some dudes house, since the lineup change, and here we are. We plan on releasing something better than a demo soon, and playing more shows....(11-16-03)Well being the procrastinating fux that we are, the only thing we've accomplished, is playing a show in gilroy with our friends, the Dead End Dogs (good band) in front of about twenty people, back in sept. '03. In Late October ('03) Rob crashed his '76 GMC and got himself a DUI. Within exactly a month, I (McBride) managed to crash my '79 Chevy into the guard rail @ 92 and El Camino, in San mateo, and busted my leg in half....(1-19-04) We've somewhat recovered from our crippledeness(in more ways than one) and we finally managed to fork up the scratch necessary to record. In an almost 13 hour studio stession the Psycho78/GutWrench split has been produced...and it was worth the wait. But have no fear, the sea of unemployment, phony justice, rotten health, and interpersonal conflict that we swim in, and that you've come to know/expect from us is always just around the corner, whether any of us like it or not. Hate, GutWrenchmore to cum!!!
