About Me

About Bookhouse
One summer night in 2002, the two childhood friends Lars-Martin and Klaus were having a couple of beers listening to some bands play in a local pub in Oslo. The two had, some years back, played in a band with some success but the members decided to prioritize other things and the band was resolved. Prior to this night theyd been talking about starting up a rock band and just play for the fun of it. On the night in question, however, the idea grew to another level. They would form a serious band and show the people how they meant rock should be. Bookhouse was formed.
Bookhouse needed to be more than a great duo featuring vocals and drums so Klaus asked his former class mate Per if hed be interested in joining the band. Meantime Lars-Martin brought in guitarist Terje. The idea was to have 2 guitarists and since Terje had played with Christian in several bands the past decade, he also was recruited. The band was now complete. It took the name The Bookhouse Boys. Much due to the appreciation for producer David Lynchs work.
After some songwriting and a couple of rehearsals, the band started playing live gigs in front of some few people, most of whom were friends of the band, in Oslo. Somehow the crowd grew for each gig and the word spread that this was a band to look out for. In November 2002 the band recorded the soundtrack for a short film called Loose Ends, starring some of Scandinavias leading actors. The Loose Ends EP was released on Grill Recordings in January 2003 and received good reviews in the press. It was playlisted on national radio P3 and many college radios all over the country.
The band did some touring during 2003 but really focused primarily on songwriting during this period. In 2004 the band started recording their debut LP. The recording of the album took longer than expected and the band felt unhappy about the production. A difficult time followed with a lot of frustration and no progression and, as a result of this, Klaus decided to leave the band for other projects late in 2004.
The band decided to recruit the young drummer talent Ivar as the new drummer. When Ivar joined the band, the momentum was back and the creative process was improved with it. The band went into the studio with Mr. Mike Hartung producing and engineering the recording. The result became Trunk Music. The band felt like this was a fresh start and decided to change name to Bookhouse. Bookhouses debut album, Trunk Music, was released May 2nd 2006.
