Young Protege: STREET CREDIBILITY--- Fam Lyfe Ent./FamGang Ent./Whoeva wins the Bidding war lolzBIOGRAPHY:Young Protege' also known as "Tha Epidimic" or "The Gucci Gangsta" "Prada Shotta" or simply "Star" as the streets of Long Island know him as, was raised in an era where crime, gang violence, rap music and television were the examples that lead our generation. May 16, 1985, "the underground legend" was born in Los Angeles, California. His father, "Big Tank Brim" was a high-ranking member of the 59th St. Brims LA Bloods Gang. His mother resided in a predominately Mexican and Crip neighborhood not far from San Fransisco, however originally hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Protege' hails from Barbadian/Chinese/Dominican and Black descent, with knowledge of all cultures and customs. Around the age of 2 is when his family relocated to Long Island, New York. Growing up in the suburbs, he learned how to adapt to diverse people and situations. Often finding himself in the face of adversity due to his geographical location of Hempstead, Long Island from rival gang members, the police and family issues at home, he would use music as his refuge.
From the beginning he was always interested in music coming from a very music-oriented family. Protege's mother was part of an early-90's R&B group (Oscar/Epic Records, LLC) and his Grandmother and Grandfather were very involved in the church choirs. First being introduced to rap through the windows of MTV, he glamourized the uprising of the culture we today call hip-hop. Yo! MTV Raps was his favorite show as a child, while others were watching cartoons and playing outside. Starting off, he would memorize his favorite song's lyrics and emulate them on personal camcorders around the way. Pro names Rakim and EPMD as his earliest influences, being from his homebase "Strong Island". Nowadays, besides his FamGang artists, he listens to D-Block, DipSet, G-Unit, Terror Squad, Roc-A-Fella, Black Hand, MOBB DEEP, TI/Grand Hustle, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne/Cash Money all of that good music. However he will never forget his roots, that grimey QueensBridge, Marcy or Harlem music! Finding him knocking some old "Children of the Corn" (Mase, Big L, Cam, Bloodshed), Nas, Nature, Cormega, Wu-Tang, LOX, Jay-Z or Notorious BIG isn't rare while hitting that purple!
1999, Protege' began attending Freeport High School, where his rap skills climbed more and more each day. Daily he would be bored in class, starting to draw pictures of the classmates which soon was replaced by writing quick, simple lyrics. As time progressed, his craft grew and to compliment his talent, he learned how to freestyle. Acquiring attention from the classmates, he would divert their attention to the side of the cafeteria where the lyrical spars would take place. Often he and classmate, Denny, (who later became known as "Sparc Fire aka Moreless") would battle for the school's crown of best rapper. Although the two were competitive, they would later join forces with the late "Crillz" aka "True Story", Miguel Adames (RIP) and formed 3 Deep, a local rap group that was in the studio once to three times a week. The trio stuck together until their breakup in 2001. From there on the "Klick-N-Sparc" duo was formed dubbing themselves "The Eastern Conference ALLSTARZ" or "The 2 Biggest things in NY since the towers dropped".
While attending Nassau Community College, the two establishing industry connections such as Def Jam and Desert Storm, catching Long Islander's attention would be a cakewalk.
2005, Put Ya Money Up Vol. 1 was unleashed to the public preceding a few hot demo CDs, hosted by Jamaica, Queens' own DJ OnPoint, known for hosting the JOE BUDDEN:Mood Muzik mixtape series. During their career they recorded various songs in Liveson Studios (D-Block) and other big time labs all across Metropolitan NYC. In addition, Young Protege' became involved in modeling and was a part of the "Gettoe Momz/Diplomatic Man" (now known as "Nostic") fashion show in downtown Manhattan. After a brief incarceration and geographic relocation, "getting it in" as Pro would say, the group set up shop in Charlotte, NC moving mixtapes like work on the block! Followed by family issues, Moreless relocated to Orlando, FL and the career of Young Protege' began from there, simultaneously handling legal cases and tripling his revenue in the south.As of 2007, he has been creating a conglomerate of hustlers, who knows how to get the revenue necessary to invest in this game where it is either success or failure! Working on his first solo mixtape, "YOUNG PROTEGE: The Indictment/ The Arraignment" (DOUBLE-DISC) is keeping him busy with over 150 tracks recorded, 50 original and 100+ freestyles. Also the next 4 mixtapes entitled "Kickdoor Anthemz", "Rap Sheet", "Oppurtunity Knockz", and "Unleashed" all hosted by FamGang Entertainment's own DJ AVENUE and DJ Flatline. THEY CALL US "FAMGANG....Tight Like A Family But BANG LIKE A GANG!!!!!" STRONG ISLAND AKA THE LOST ISLAND STAND THE FUKK UP! But dont get it twisted, U might katch me g-ridin or strollin thru GangSta ParaDise, Da JunGlez, GhoSttOwn, WilD 100z HARLEM GET AT ME.....His flow is hard to compare to industry birdheads because it switches up like a southpaw fighter, with lyrical jabs such as metaphors/punchlines, vocabulary and experience to put the icing on the cake. Young Protege' named his upcoming album "STREET CRED" because he simply isn't a rapper he's a trapper that knows how to rap good! Real-life experiences and lessons help his lyrics grab the hearts and minds of those who roam these cold New York streets just like him, so don't be suprised to catch him in Marcy (BK), Redfern(Far Rockaway), Taft (Harlem, NY) or 40 Projects (Queens, NY) keeping it gangsta! Ghostwriting for other artists has become his new hobby lately, receiving credit from Rap and R&B joints. 2007, he was briefly incarcerated stemming from a drug charge and has since been on house arrest then probation, trying his hardest to stay out of illegal activity as his management and legal advisors suggest. With currently 4 artists, besides himself on his FamGang roster: MORELESS, TREY POUND, H2K (Hard 2 Kill), and Max Payne all have projects aiming to drop in early to Summer 2008.
