blindlight is a rock band hailing from the suburbs of Chicago. The group of five been playing together as blindlight since late 2004.
It all started when Matt and Brady (AND James Passion) decided to form a rock band at the end of summer in 2004. They are both guitarists, but they knew some people who could fill the other spots needed. They had a bassist, James Passion, already, and when asked to drum for them, Chris said "Sure, whatever."
We started practicing in Chris's basement and writing a couple songs right off the bat. At first, Brady was supposed to be the lead singer, but he just wasn't up to it. When he decided he really didn't want to be the lead singer, we started looking for somebody who could. We found that in Danny. He came over to Matt's house, we tried out some songs, and he wrote the lyrics/melody to Let Me Spin in the time he was there. He also plays piano, and that just added another element to blindlight.
Even since then, we have been adding songs, perfecting others, scratching shitty ones off the list, etc. What used to be just Matt and Brady jamming in Matt's room has turned into a full-blown rock band. We recorded a six-song demo titled "Recorded With One Mic and No Retakes," which was recorded with one mic and no retakes, hence all the mess-ups and accidental tempo changes, with the generous help of Evan Gornik, (check his band out When All the World Sleeps at www.worldsleeps.com), and we recorded a five-song demo on April 18-19 at Semaphore Recording called "If You Believe in Telekinesis, Please Raise My Hand."
