A new style. A new sound

About Me

D. was first introduced to music at about the age of 10 when his mother let him pluck around on her acoustic. His love of music grew while playing the guitar and other instruments and expanded into the recording arts. During his studying of the recording arts D. was a live sound engineer for 7 years and toured the country with various Sacramento bands like 7th Standard and The Revolution Smile. He became known for his well balanced, spatious, and energized mixes. Soon he was asked to fly to Europe to tour with the Deftones, A Perfect Circle, and The Revolution Smile. After a brief tour with Head Automatica (Darryl Palumbo's side project) he left a flourishing career in live sound to put all of his energy into his true passion-Recording great music. Currently D. is focused on producing, engineering, and mixing in the Sacramento area primarily using J Street Recorders (owned by Brian Wheat of Tesla) as his main facility. THE SONGS PLAYED ON THIS PAGE ARE PART OF MY DEMO REEL (RESUME) Bands D. has worked with or is currently working with: Affirmative Cameraman! ,The Hour Gang ,Losing All Pride ,Phil Putnam ,Quitter ,THEND ,Perish , Deftones,Downshift ,Head Automatica ,Gnosis ,The Revolution Smile ,Seventh Standard ,Resolve to Burn ,The Broke,Day Care,Forever Goldrush
My goal is to make every recording I work on sound like it will be played on the radio.
Im looking for talented, energetic, and hard working bands to help carve out a new sound for Sacramento. My production style is focused mostly on pre-producion helping to ensure that your band is as "tight" as possable and songs developed to your satisfaction then we go into the studio to record. I prefer to work from but J Street Recorders but I also use my personal studio for editing and some tracking. I also understand budgets are always of concern so I'll do everything possible to keep you from over spending.

THE SERVICES I OFFER:
Pre-Production (as stated above) - Help in making sure your songs are ready to be recorded
Engineering - My aim is to get the best sounds and tones to tape/hard drive so we dont have to "fix it in the mix"
Editing - Cut out extra noise and such, Sound replace, Tune, Get rough ideas for mixing
Mixing - Here is where I work to be as creative as possable with out leaving behind your sound and the ideas you want to get across to your fans.
Mastering - Make it big, make it loud.

Working with D. has been very pleasurable, constructive, and educational. Its nice working with and engineer/producer with such efficiency, honest objectivity, and taste. We got exactly what we were looking for out of the two songs D. has helped us with, and look forward to doing the rest of our album with him!
-- Resolve to Burn

Not only is Dan an attractive, smart, cunning young man, but he is also amazing to work with. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome of our EP and it would not have been the same without him. Dan helped us all the way through pre-production to the final mastering while giving us tips and ideas to make our songs even better. His knowledge and skills helped us produce a CD together that sounds great. If you need a high quality recording and want to work with a great engineer & producer, Dan is your man.
-- Affirmative Cameraman!

We have known Dan since our first recording experience in the studio. Our session sounded horibble from our current engineer and we complained to the studio. They replaced him with Dan and he turned what sounded like mud into something with clarity and definition. Since then we use him for all of our mixing projects.. if your looking for someone who's easy going but is one of the top at his fields.. well "dan is the man"
-- Downshift

Working with D. was such an awesome experience we could really tell that he cared as much as we did about making us sound as good as possible, I mean he drove an hour out too our band room too see us practice just so he could get a feel of what he was going to be working with. He took suggestions as well as gave them too us we highly recomend him! We'll be back to do our full length.
-- The Hour Gang

D is a rare find in the world of engineers; high-skilled, and not a dick. Every session with D. is fun, creative, and productive. One of the top skills he brings to the table is his commitment to listening. He listens to the artists, he listens to the songs, he listens to his instincts. The result is excellent tracks, every time. -Phil Putnam, singer/songwriter and intercontinental sex symbol

Tip .63

Know the tempo of your songs and practice to a metronome before you come into the studio--it'll save you time and money!!
