Who are these assholes?
Jacob plays drums, keyboards sometimes, drum machine sometimes, and your nerves all of the time. He’s from Chugiak, Alaska where he played in a three piece band called Spork. Also in Spork was his friend Nathan Tilton who now plays bass, guitar, keyboard, drum machine, and sings for Ned. Cyrus Tilton, who is also from Chugiak and happens to be Nathan’s brother, plays guitar, sampler, bass, keyboards, and sings. Cyrus met Ross Peacock (who currently sings, plays keyboards, bass, guitar and drum machine) in Oakland California. The two decided to mess around with an eight track and cheap beer. The result was the beginnings of Ned. Soon (2001ish) Nathan and Jacob would get the call to get their asses to Oakland and rock. And so they did.....
Sounds Like:
Mesh Magazine......Oakland's Ned creates eerie soundscapes on its self-released debut, bringing to mind at times George Harrison's contributions to the Beatles, John Lennon's solo recordings, and the darker edges of Bowie.....
diw (Devil in the Woods)...... On stage Ned actually appear to be enjoying themselves and it's hard to resist.......All the while creating a sonic soundscape with a wall of ambient keyboards, angular, distorted guitars, funky basslines, electronic squeals and chimes and stuttering drum machines.....obsessed with layering sound upon sound the 4 members map out how to re-create this for the full effect live, and choreograph an intricate stage tango as they trade instruments from song to song.....
SPLENDID...... Ned share with Grandaddy and Mogwai, the talent for making beautiful, faintly majestic things from electronic elements, and possess a similar understanding of volume and tempo dynamics.
"It's like hearing Men's Recovery Project beat The Flaming Lips over the head with a baseball bat?"...... Record label
