Born and breed in Chicago. In Chicago -- we are about OUR MUSIC.I have (been apart of booking THE LEGENDARY, and god bless his soul, "alright now Ronny.") Ron Hardy, back in the day --the venue's name slips my mind but it was way up on Broadway North of Hollywood, at a place that is now a Mosque I think. (I will have that flier up here soon.) However this place was not as far as Devon which is where the other place was that I was personally afraid of going to, but my gay cousin took me too. That was with my boys -- The Lust Corp., my man Jamie 3:26 and several other brothers and myself began throwing parties around the city including venues such as De-joie's and the Gentle Persuasion and went to high school with Glenn Underground and Harrison Crump. The Lower Wacker Drive Music Box, but I had to check out what my classmates were coming back to school on Monday talking about. It was scary -- so I waited till Ronnie came to Cermak and Michigan when I was 17-years-old. There we saw him religiously. You didn't get there before midnight, cause Ronnie wouldn't be there yet. But lots of the cats that are hot now, opened for Ronnie. Ask them.I do remember Lil Louis standing outside my High School on the South Side passing fliers on East 87Th street, many times in the early morning, and snow storms for his Diamond Corp stuff, usually The Bismarck hotel, then later @ Medusa's on North Sheffield.I remember sweaty Mendal Catholic High School in 1984, on East 111th street. I saw Farley spin there, Darrel Pandy -- so many djs. I was in 7th and 8th grade. My boy Stanford -- who has since passed, got our joint stolen by some cats, while we were walking east on 11th street after his mother dropped us @ 111th and Michigan -- they asked if they could have some and took it.I have bounced at the old Shelter on Fulton street, where i remember seeing an early Jevon Jackson, Mark Grant I think, um thats when peeps used to dress up to go out. Kids would be wearing those really tall shoes, which freaked me out. The after parties in the meat packing area.Just around the corner from China Club, where Damon Wayans and his brother kicked it when they filmed that one movie where they were poor and robbing dudes to survive. That was around the time Dennis Rodman used to hang out at the place on the corner -- The drink. We used to climb through the side windows to get in. All the sports stars used to hang there, Mike J, Dennis Rodman. We thought it was cool. The place that is now "Jefferson's -- I don't remember the name of the place but they did parties there.
