Have you got what you paid for?

About Me

Close the door, block out all outside noise. This will only take a minute. The band you are about to hear plays it short but definitely not sweet. From the suburbs of Canberra, Inflatable Ingrid formed when guitarist Dead Reub7en Joke met vocalist Paulie Thalidomide while the two were studying Year 12 at Narrabundah College in 2004. In the ensuing years, Inflatable Ingrid went through a revolving door line-up of rhythm players before Nickamc and Julian permanently joined the band on bass and drums respectively.
With their volatile mix of thrash metal riffs and hardcore punk indignation, Inflatable Ingrid’s slogan could be "This Machine Kills Wankers". Highlights of their career so far include competing in the 2006 Pot Belly Battle of the Bands, playing Indyfest '07 and a Dionysian finale at the Phoenix Bootleg Sessions. This is music that demands to be heard. Put this on right now!

Sounds Like: Review of Urgent! Put This On Right Now! by Luke McGrath in Canberran street press BMA (Bands. Music. Action.), Issue 290, published 15th November 2007.

This is fucking fantastic. If Ingrid were from East London, the NME would be going ape-shit over them. You know when you hear something important, everything else seems unimportant? After listening to (Urgent!), you feel guilty cueing up Wolfmother or whatever other rent-a-rock Starbucks affiliated meaningless pap you normally have on shuffle on your iPod.
The band makes vital (and yes, urgent) music that throws sex, religion, politics, teen angst and pop culture into a blender and makes you a gray-coloured smoothie that sometimes tastes like shit but makes you feel better. This is cathartic music that you and your Jet-loving Dad aren't going to agree upon - and wasn't that the point of rock 'n' roll?
