Dj Shaft

Was born in 1982 in Reykjavík. Ever since I was five I started to collect music. My dad listened to The Beatles and my mum had a thing for Abba. But the radio was always on. I picked up a lot from the radio. My first record was "Off The Wall" with Michael Jackson. My dad had the Thriller album and I used to listen to it many times and danced to it each time it was on. I was sent to dance school to learn Michael Jackson dances. But it was Latin and Ballroom danceschool, so I learnd that instead. From age of 5 to 17 I went to this danceshcool. By that time I dicided to do music instead of dancing. My first Dj gig was at my school when I was 13. Playing hardcore,rave,triphop and bigbeat music. Only few of the people liked it. But I kept on precticing and buying records. I had my first mixer by that time. 4 channel Kam mixer with no eq. Only a crossfader and two stripes. Now I..ve Xone92, sl1200 decks and Pioneer cd players witch are working well. Now I..m working at HljóðX as a audio-technician and mixing live concerts. Dj..ing almost every weekend.Me and my friends host Groovebox nights, where we play Soulful,Afro,Latin,Deep,Garage House music or just a good groove. Housemusic is in for me today, as well as jazz, hiphop, soul, brokenbeats, nu-jazz, funk. It..s all about the groove.
