West Auckland's Geneva started with a bang in 2004 when the very first song they ever wrote won a competition on TVNZ's "Studio 2" programme and had a fully-funded music video shot for it and televised. The school age band went on to perform well in a variety of Battle of the Bands contests, including finishing second in the Rockquest regionals in 2005 and got through to the Top 12 in 2006.The rock/reggae band have started to bring their music onto the live scene through the time-honoured avenue of parties and local shows including, most notably, the College Live 06 with Mumsdollar and Zebulun, The WBC debut album release party, Supersizemypay.com campaign in Myers Park with 8 Foot Sativa and Stylus, Parachute Music Festival and Ska-B-Q with acts such as Coolie Ranx and the New Zealand ska triumvirate of The Offbeats, The WBC and The Managers.A five-song demo recorded at MAINZ in November 2005 in Auckland represents the first CD output of the now eight peice. They have recently released their Debut EP "The Word Is Going Round" and it is available at all of their shows.Geneva's music is very original with influences from ska, reggae, punk, pop and even a little bit of hardcore. The 8 piece use funky guitar riffs, catchy horn lines, solid drums, rhymic bass lines and harmonising vocals to capture the audience and create a heck of a good time.
