About Me

I'm an Art teacher embracing the yuppie life. I enjoy wine, conversation, movies, having silly fun. I enjoy potty humor, and watching old episodes of 'Rosanne'. I'm not a big kid person, even though I enjoy teaching high school. I'm not your average Southerner in the sense that I don't watch sports(not even LSU or the Saints), I don't go "down the river," and I don't eat crawfish (too much work). That being said, I will attend a crawfish boil. Good corn and potatoes with beer!

My Interests

Movies - i tend to like movies where the characters change and evolve. this seems like a given path for any movie, but lately there just seems to be steaming piles of crap coming out of hollywood.Reading, although I usually read to get to sleep, and generally need something light for that.Hanging out with friends, although I don't suppose that's all that original of an idea.Teaching.....

I'd like to meet:

Anyone and everyone. There is usually a redeemable quality to be had in all. I'm always looking for a kindred spirit.

Music:

Here's where everyone says that they like all music. I guess I'm the same. I tend to not like hip-hop. I can't stand rap. And scream rock/heavy metal makes me want to drive sticks in my ears. So, what do I like? I love new age with a techno twist, classical, some jazz and blues. I like some of the top 40 here and there, but mostly i don't listen to the radio, i spend too much time flipping through the stations. the 80's were a great era for music.

Movies:

The Harry Potter movies, some great movies are: Harold and Maude (classic story of character evolution)/ Rocky Horror Picture Show (for good measure)/ Any John Hughs 80's movie (simple goodness)/ Crash was a mindblower/ Grease (is the word)/ Shaun of the of the Dead (you've got red on you) 300(visually stunning, oh, and the leather loin cloths or bad either).

Television:

Lost, Prison Break, 6 Feet Under, Dead Like Me, Sex and the City, Rosanne(the older episodes), The Flight of the Conchords, Taboo)

Books:

okay, okay, I'll admit it. I'm a Harry Potter dork. are you happy now? I also like history books that aren't written at the PHD level. I read popular best sellers as well. Right now, I'm reading The Devil Wears Prada. I heard the movie sucks, but the book is good.

Heroes:

I love Maya Lin. She's the artist who designed the Vietnam Memorial at the age of 21. I think she has a wonderful intuitive style.

So today I had my first field trip. Oh boy. Where do I begin? Well, I have no clue about these things, so I rely on others to tell me how it should go and what all I need to do. At least until I get u...

Does it mean you’re old when.....

You think grocery shopping and hanging curtains is a rockin’ Saturday night? Here I am, two days into my Spring Break, and I’m quite sober and a little tired at 11:30. I am looking forward...

DESK!!!

After years of using a board layed across two filing cabinets, I finally bought a real, grown-up desk! It was a major pain in the arse to put together ( I believe the final count was 4 hours), and the...

Yeah, so I went to the HOB last night to see They Might Be Giants, which were fantastic as always. I was really smitten with the opening band, Oppenheimer. Seems like I've heard their name before, bu...

Yeah, so I haven't written anything in a long time. In the past year, I've gone from being a bartender/college student to a high school teacher. I've gone from living in a dumpy trailer to a brand new...
