My kids. My work. My family. Reading reading reading. Writing when the muse takes hold, usually at 2 in the morning after a night of bad sleep. I love music, but I don't play anything and my singing makes the feral neighborhood cats howl. It's the lyrics I like most, of course. The really wordy ones... Anyway. I like people. Learning their stories, hearing their secrets if they want to share. Finding the perfect fall leaf or driving by the same incredible snowman again and again thrill me.
Free spirits; free thinkers; freedom fighters; freedom writers; those who set themselves free; those who set others free; people who long to be free at last, free at last.
So much music, so little time. OK - I'm a lyrics girl, it's all about the words for me. In that spirit, I offer up: Indigo Girls, Girlyman, They Might Be Giants, Bare Naked Ladies, Ani DiFranco, , Hoodoo Gurus, Kate Bush, Lyle Lovett, REM, Pearl Jam, U2 (of course, my age is showing, isn't it?), Norah Jones, Repacements, Sarah MacLachlan, etc etc. Also and of course any blues that might laying around and really good blue grass.

Books books books! My current favorite: Lamb (The Gospel According to Bif, Christ's Childhood Pal) - It's laugh out loud funny. It's share with a friend funny. It's read out loud to a friend in the middle of a bookstore until you're asked to stop funny. Oops - that might just be me on that one. Other books ... Well, it's easier to do authors. Alice Walker, John Steinbeck, Amy Tan, Louise Erdrich, Mark Twain, Barbara Kingsolver, kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams. Oh damn. Too many. I can't tell you all of them, I would just need to kneel in front of my book case and type from there. But one of my perennial favorites is Fall On Your Knees by Ann Marie MacDonald. Amazing piece of work.
My kids. My older sister, she's amazing. Anyone who can tell their truth even when it's hard to do.
