ADAM GERSHON is a rock and roll drummer, to put it simply. With two decades of experience, he has contributed to countless productive and inspiring studio sessions and live performances. Gershon's playing is featured on a dozen recent albums, and he's toured the West extensively. Most importantly, he just loves to play the drums, and his skill and enthusiasm have guided him into gigs with successful artists all along the West Coast.
Gershon has been influenced by classic greats like Copeland, Colaiuta and Porcaro, and by more contemporary talents like Cameron and Abbruzzese. His tastes over the years have spanned the musical spectrum, but he always comes back to good old fashioned, powerful rock and roll drumming ... what he likes to call "bread and butter" drumming. With confident backbeats, bold downbeats, precise cymbal work and tasty fills, he is a master of driving the song without running over it.
He also has a background in post-production, studio engineering and has produced several indie projects (including his own). His unique perspective and in-depth understanding of the studio allows him to nail the stylistic subtleties producers crave.
And while Gershon's "reel" speaks for itself, producer Steve Sundholm (Geoff Byrd, Justin Hopkins) has this to say:
"Adam showed the rare ability to pick up on new material quickly and still retain the proper attention to detail. He was well prepared and extremely easy to work with. I'd recommend him for studio drumming any time."Gear doesn't make the man, but it does make the man sound good. Gershon plays a Pearl Masters Studio kit and Zildjian A cymbals. He's at one with the click in the studio and on stage, and he's proven himself to be absolutely reliable.
Gershons professional career began in college where he enjoyed the highlights and lowlights of playing rock and roll ... from basement frat house parties, to sharing the stage with legend Steve Miller and opening for ska sensation Save Ferris. His band, Big Time Rosie, moved to Portland to join the vibrant music scene there and continue their extensive touring around the NW. The band became a local favorite enjoying radio play on Portland AAA powerhouse KINK-FM.
By the time he left Portland in 2002, Gershon had played with many other acts, further endearing himself to the local scene. Since making the decision to move south, Gershon has been busy playing shows and recording albums, steadily adding his name to artists and producers rolodexes all over town.
