A child of 80’s music, such as the Cure, the Psychedelic Furs, U2, and a slew of unmentionable heavy metal acts, Kevin has played in bands since age 14. In 1989 he moved from Connecticut to Los Angeles with his band Avant Garde (featuring Rivers Cuomo of Weezer) to pursue a career as a rock singer and songwriter. Over the past 15 years, he has created a name for himself in the Los Angeles’ music scene with his bands Ridel High (A&M Records), Peel (Beyond Music) and AM Radio (Elektra Records).
Kevin’s band AM Radio has toured the US, Canada and Japan extensively, supporting the bands Weezer, Third Eye Blind, Eve 6, Rooney, Ben Kweller and the Psychedelic Furs. Their song “I Just Wanna Be Loved†was featured on the Smallville soundtrack - Talon Mix, and also placed on an episode. Another song “Taken for a Ride†was featured on EA Sports’ John Madden Football 2003, placed on an episode of One Tree Hill, and used on a television trailer for FOX feature film The Girl Next Door. Another song “Pretty Stupid†was featured on the DVD for Wonderfalls.
More recently, Kevin’s music career has been concentrated overseas in Japan, with the release of AM Radio’s latest album “Reactive†on Fiveman Army (FAEC Inc.) and his signing with Sony Music Publishing (Japan). Kevin also lent his voice to 4 songs on Nintendo’s US release of Elite Beat Agents and sang “You Really Got Me†(by The Kinks) for a national Japanese television ad for Soft Bank, featuring Brad Pitt.
Since the summer of 2006, Kevin has been playing bass and singing in the praise band at Full Grace Church in Los Angeles, one of a few pivotal steps in his spiritual awakening. Kevin had realized just how much God had given him over the years without getting anything in return; not just success in the music business, but Jesus giving His life for us on the cross.
The words “God, You gave us music. Now I want to give it back to You.†from Kevin’s song “Holy Music†explains his sudden change in music focus. Inspired, he began writing countless ‘Alternative Christian Rock’ songs and recording home demos, some with guitarist Andrew Hiestand (L2D). In the fall of 2007, Kevin recorded a 3 song maxi single for his song “Dustâ€, produced by AM Radio band mate Guy Harrington. The songs feature Andrew, Jason Moore (AM Radio) and Rowan Robertson (AM Radio) on guitar; Guy on bass and keyboards; Adam Hurlbut (AM Radio) on drums; and Kevin’s wife Mikiko singing additional backing vocals.
In 2008, Kevin is hoping to record a full length album and spread the Word of God through his music.
