About Me

I'm not a big fan of talking about myself, so writing a bio is really awkward to me. Anywho, my name is Joel. I am a 24 year-old brown eyed singer/songwriter from southern California. Ah... Kahlifornia (in my best Schwarzenegger voice): home of In 'N' Out burgers, beautiful people, and sunny smoggy skies (what alliteration huh?). I have been writing and performing my own songs for the last 6 years all across southern California. Over the course of that time I put a band together, recorded some songs, and released them on a record entitled 'Between Dark and Light' in December of '03.
'Between Dark and Light' is a collection of songs from a very weird period in my life. I wasn't sure where my life was going, who I was, or who I wanted to be. These songs come from a place of uncertainty, but remain hopeful nonetheless. Therefore the title 'Between Dark and Light' comes into play. It's like hiding in the shadows. Not completely hidden and not completely revealed. This is life overly simplified. Uncertain, hopeful, and full of possibilities. I have had the absolute joy of sharing my heart with people and having them receive not just my words, but who I am. It's an unbelievable feeling that I wish everyone could experience at least once in their life. Giving yourself and receiving the hearts of others is more than you could possibly wish for.
In closing (as if this were Matlock or some John Grisham novel), I have written and recorded a new batch of songs for my sophomore release 'Nocturnal' which will be released early 2007 on Rise & Fall Records. Thank you all for your continuing love and support!
