Some of the things I've been able to do over the years include: playing pool with Minnesota Fats; riding with NASCAR'S Tony Stewart around Atlanta Motor Speedway at 175 mph; watching "Family Feud" with Roy Acuff backstage at the Grand Ole Opry; having breakfast with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings at the Loveless Cafe; working with Dick Clark at Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam concerts; being in the audience for Saturday Night Live; traveling with NFL and MLB teams; hosting Showtime's first "Funniest Person in America" contest; hot air ballooning; attending the Summer Olympics in LA and ATL; being onstage to emcee dozens of concerts; partying in New Orleans with U2 and Green Day; performing with my own band, and tell your mammy I've been to the Grammy's. Here's a handful of the great stations I've probably been fired from:
I like rock, R&B, soul, Yiddish polkas, blues, New Orleans jazz, country, and yes disco. I also love Texas bands. I've probably been to over 500 concerts and haven't paid to see five of them, so I've been very lucky. The people I like best are generally the people I've seen. I suppose the best shows I've seen have been Yes, U2, Prince and Pink Floyd, but who can say? My first concert was Aerosmith with UFO in 1977 and Foghat was the first band I ever met. Being on the radio has given me the chance to see and meet hundreds of artists.
Saturday Night Fever, Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo, Same Time Next Year (I watch it every six months), Gangs of New York, In the Name of the Father, Braveheart, 300, Gotti, Citizen Kane, The Dirty Dozen and anything else with Lee Marvin, Gladiator, early Bond, One Million Years B.C., Blood Sucking Freaks, Enemy at the Gates, Robert Altman films, Gone With The Wind, Breaker Morant, and any Hammer horror film with Peter Cushing.
