I'm a fine artist as well as a commercial artist, and I show my work in gallery exhibitions, as well as on record covers. I am passionate about pictures. I love to collaborate, and to create and produce exhibitions and events with other artists. I love to travel, to read, to write; I love conversational salons, and arts events like theatre, films and performances. I love the water. I'm an Aquarian, and a chocoholic. If you'd care to buy me a martini, make it vodka (dirty, straight up) with two olives.
Folks who need compelling pictures and want to work with a professional who's experienced, skilled, patient and good-natured. I love to collaborate. I work with artists directly, and also with labels, publications, management companies and agents. You can see samples of my work in my "top twelve" -- all these folks have had me create their pictures! Then, look under "view more pics" on my page, to see a selection of images from my portfolio. You can see some examples of my concert work on Doug Pettibone's Pics page -- www.myspace.com/dougpettibone. And please do visit my web site: www.deonejahnke.com
Six or eight times a year, I host Loft Concerts in my midwest studio. These shows are the artist's-loft version of a house concert. It's fun and very satisfying to provide an alternative venue for musicians to perform and interact with their audience. And I love having all that great creative energy in my studio. Most of "my" artists are singer-songwriters; some of the folks I've had the pleasure of hosting include Justin Townes Earle, Kevin Gordon, Gurf Morlix, Sam Baker, Joy Lynn White, Phil Lee, Rosie Flores, Amelia White and Shawn Camp. My favorite kinds of music? Alt-country and Power-pop.
The brilliant filmmaker Heidi Spencer has made a new documentary about me and my work, "Picturing the Music." It includes five vignettes, working with music folks, and it will be posted and ready for viewing soon! Stay tuned!!
Opiate of the masses (wait -- that was religion)
