Bono, to thank him for his work for the ones struggling to live in extreme poverty, and so much more; he's inspired many to come onboard for the work of the world.
Bill and Melinda Gates, here in my hometown, for their contributions to The Global Fund and so much more, as well as my son's school district; my husband worked his labs off and on for many years!
Bob Geldof, the world's most unpretentious knight, to thank him for his recalibrating my perspective of the continent of africa;
Gavin Friday, a talented man who makes awesome soundtracks and art outside the box. approachable, charming, amazingly gifted man. an interview with him is like a lesson in art and history and culture.
Ali Hewson, cofounder of Chernobyl Children's Project International, with awesome staffs that i adore in both DC and in Ireland. They have greater access to the children there than many of us on US shores do. And am in awe of the 20th anniversary run (can you believe it's been that long since the reactor accident) and their unpretentious care of these forgotten kids. *and when you go there, you go there w/me; it's all you can do . . . . .*
Howard Shultz, head of Starbucks.
Kyle Petty, NASCAR driver, who after he lost of his son developed a Paul Newman Hole-In-The-Wall camp for terminally ill children in North Carolina.
Moya Brennan - lovely irish voice, alone and with her family in Clannad . . . . her fans are amazing too!
Stephen Lewis, humanitarian and envoy to UN. Gentle giant, loves my african children. And Dr. Sachs too! Dr. Paul Farmer, the man who would cure the world, making massive strides in hurdling the tuberculosis monster . . .
World Vision workers in the offices of Federal Way Washington and on the ground in africa - they're doing what i wanna do when i grow up! Missed opportunities, much regret. . . . .
. . . . . .and each and every last one of you!

all things U2 - albums, boots, anything especially interviews . . . and i'm pretty new to the current music scene, not any other current big artists really at this point. Bob Geldof. Rocko and the Devils. and Southern Gospel (i know, i know, just can't let it go. . . . .) learning the 80's on VH1 Classics, will work forward from there *got a LOOONG ways to go!*my first non-gospel album in 30 years was How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. i got the u2 ipod and collection, so learned all of u2's music backwards. love it all.and then there's Rocko. and those Devils. these guys stole my heart during U2's last tour, many of us saw them opening for them live the last night in Bonolulu. stop by www.rockoandthedevils.com and see how good it can be when these good guys really care about staying close to their fans, yet are busy professional technicians who unpretentiously serve the kings of rock and roll, not just u2. yes, many bands do this, but to me, these guys brought the finest vertigo tour to the world and still have time to remember who i am. Domino you're hearing here is them . . . . other songs loaded on their website, i'll make you go there to see the videos yourself. please stop by the guesbook and say hello.
i'm serious when i say Million Dollar Hotel. Working with special adults and kids, it grips a soft spot in me. i've had a lot of Tom Tom's come thru my life.not a big movie buff . . . prefer documentaries and bio's. Hotel Rwanda reminds us never again, never again, and now that it's happening all over again, we have legislative work to continue on their behalf.
VH1 Classics. CNN and c-span. Food channel! no tolerance for reality tv or american idol-type contests (why should one win and all the rest go home? all are winners in my book!) especially children - every last one is a winner! i hate competition.
The Message Mountains Against Mountains - the story of Paul Farmer, the Man Who Would Cure the World. Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson Our Day to End Poverty - Ken Follett The Bishop of Rwanda - Finding Forgiveness Amidst a Pile of Bones. u2 by u2. Bono by Bono w/Asayas u2 Show. Not For $ale - The Return of the Global Slave Trade - and How We Can Fight It. Mohammed Yunus, Creating a World Without Poverty Mandela by Bill Clinton and Desmond Tutu. Geldof on Africa.bio's and nonfiction. geography and political and economic books, lately concerning poverty and world and global economics. periodicals and current events. always looking for global events from their local perspective, in lieu of the west's spin on it.
Jesus; Mother Teresa of Calcutta; my dad; my brother; Glenn Kaiser of Jesus People USA in Chicago; Peter and Jenny Martynovich, who visit my kids in Belarus every year for me, built a camp for the Gypsies of the region, racism is still strong there . . . Bob Geldof and Bono, who dream seemingly impossible dreams of the least of these in africa, and are proving to me that ending stupid poverty can and will happen! i'm on a winning team! Anderson Cooper, who goes where not many reporters do, reports it the way it is. we need more like him.and anyone who will kick against the goads, reset the paradigm, think outside the box, ditch the cynicism and negativity, and build up rather than tear down. we need to carry each other, not bury each other . . .
