He brings 12 years of experience every time he steps behind the decks with a hybrid form of dance music combining elements of disco, jazz, funk, p-funk, and house. “House music runs through my veins!†says DJ Rebel. DJ Rebel is an avid producer of house and drum and bass and is currently seeking major label backing to further his name. He hopes to build his own record label, Insurgent Recordings, from the ground up, to become a major player in many genres of electronic music all over the world. Current ventures include a start up Austin promotional company called Mesh Lab Promotions. Mesh Lab will be booking top house and drum and bass talent in Austin, Dallas, and Chicago. As the number one resident DJ for Mesh Lab Promotions, DJ Rebel will be opening for the best acts, gaining a substantial amount of promotion in the years to come.
DJ Rebel is also co-founder of Insurgent Recordings, who was responsible for the legendary BUMP!session Renegade Parties in Austin , Texas from 2002-2004. He has played at Texture, Plush, 219 West, Headhunter’s, Wax, Club One, Minc , Zen Fest, Austin Music Hall, and numerous “one-off†and private events including, but not limited to “in-stores†and fashion shows. DJ Rebel has opened up for big names like Derrick Carter, Dylan, and Robyn Kaos. In 2005 Insurgent Recordings teamed up with Ape-Shit Entertainment to host top talent such as Pendulum, Noisia, D-Star, Concord Dawn and Black Sun Empire to name a few.
Thousands of promotional CD’s flood the streets of Texas as DJ Rebel continues to push the underground sound. Internet promotions on message boards, dj mix downloads, e-mail lists, and events postings all have the same message. DJ Rebel is here to stay.
