This is Tyler, our new drummer. Tyler hung out with the band since it started last summer. He attended more rehersals and shows than he missed. What we did not know is that he is an 18 year old drum prodigy. Wes has left the band due to his own reasons. There is no bad blood, these things tend to happen when a band is trying to be a band. We are damn lucky that Greeneville, being such a small place, has a very nice pool of good players. Tyler rehersed with us last night and we played our whole set strait through. One more rehersal tonight, and he debuts at the Hideaway tomorrow night. Get ready because this kid sets the Skinflick on fire. You can also catch Tyler with his other project, Wikked Revenge, another Greeneville rock band that rocks.
Hilllbilly Skinflick first got together in late summer 2005. Brothers, Joe and Wes King and longtime friend, Homer E. Moon, decided to take time off from their projects New Disease and Third Leg to head into a new direction. The three had spent many jam sessions together in a double wide in Houston Valley in the hills of East Tennessee.For the first time the three are making music in a serious project and the resulting sound is stunning in its intensity and its tight rhythms. Moon recruited local jazz singer, Megan Kerns, to add its own uniqueness to the new project. Megan was slightly apprehensive about fronting for a punk band, since her background was primarily in jazz and Americana, but after she warmed up about things and realized her potential to voice her opinions like never before, a band was born.The band rehersed for 6 weeks and came up with 13 songs. They played their first gig @ the Hideaway in downtown Johnson City, TN, a hole in the wall near and dear to everyone in the band's hearts. They hit the scene through the late summer and fall and took a short winter break. Spring is here, and they are ready to stir some shit up. The band also just recorded their freshman CD, Merry-Go-Round, which is due out in Summer 2006 on Rural Rock Records.
