I covered Hollywood for CNN and public radio for several years and have been in the film/video/news industry almost from the beginning. Citizen Kane remains my favorite all time film, but I must say Crash was wonderful as was Unbearable Lightness of Being and so many others. Never thought I'd put a Jim Carey movie on the list, but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was a surprisingly good film. And, although it bugs the hell out of some of my friends, Sideways was a great film in my view (of course it helps that I knew all the scene locations and love a good glass of wine). I take my daughter and her firends to all the high tech animation films (professional curiosity) and, of course, Harry Potter films.I'm a big documentary fan. Executive Director (former Chair) of a Commission that funds local filmmakers (and I've made a few award-winning docs over the years). Even host an award-winning cable show that includes local films and interviews with local filmmakers. We could talk about this for hours...
Don't watch that much (except news), but Sherlock Holmes, Nova, Frontline, Masterpiece Theatre, Battlestar Gallactica, Sopranos, Sex in the City, West Wing (that's done now, but it was great), Charlie Rose, Monk, CSI...and the cartoon I used to watch with my youngest daughter:

The Last Lion by William Manchester (2 volumes, the third was never written because he died), a biography of Winston Churchill. Anything by Gore Vidal, Joan Didion or Elmore Leonard. William Saffire's Disclosure was a great read, too.
