The last few years have been "storming" but more about that later. I grew up in Rotterdam and first got my graduation in chemistry. I worked in that sector for over 7 years. After a few economical restructuring in this sector, I finally wouldn't touch a testtube with a 40 ft pole anymore. I decided I had to do more with my first love , which is music. So I worked in a music store for a year, and then came to work -part time- in a musician's center. I still work there, first the usual things , bartending, PR, changing the occasional string for a practising guitarist... I've been with this company for quite a few years now. The real change came when I joined a metalband called "Imp" , I've played in bands before, but this was like , forgive the expression, a wet dream. I entered a musically well oiled band with all the elements already exactly in place. A hightech drummer, a great bassplayer, an over-the-top rhytmical guitarist and last but centainly not least a girl on vocals which could easily growl as low as a bear and reach those high end top notes without blinking. First I had a lot of trouble getting into their musical structure, but I picked up and found something more to do in this band where others were less "gifted" in. I started getting this band quite a lot of gigs and do some managing on the side as well. I really felt good doing all those things, and we played some very cool places.Anyways...I've always wanted to start my own company. I had some skills and some years before that I even got my diploma/ license to start a company. As time goes by, I get a clearer view of what I want to do with this and started late 2005 with "No Nonsense Bookings & Management". I also had som IT skills and already did a lot of soundengineering for quite a few bands. Business was quite difficult in the beginning as the market was flooded by bookers, so I needed an edge. My edge is what Imp was all about, although Imp and me split up in between, I consider a band with a female vocalist or a woman/girl in the band with some exceptional skills, the type of band I'd like to represent. Since bookings started slow, just because I knew a lot of people, but since I did the same thing with a new name, I had to work things up again from the bottom. Now after a year things are not on the level I'd like them to be but I consider it OK for now. This is really enlightening, having done 4000+ bands, I get asked a lot for jobs. But as I have had it with band who cannot control their own sound, I've had the luxury of becoming picky.check my blogs for all stories about that. It was great and made me an instant tour-junkie.And still, I'm meeting great people, coming in quite a few places I've never been before, and of course doing the things I love.Over the last few years I've met numerous good people , artists, labelowner, recordcompy CEO's..you name it. But only a few are close to my heart, if you know me , names are obvious. As a latest edition to realising some of the dreams I have/had. I recently bought my dreamcar, a Honda Prelude , the series they built from 1992-1998. In dark bloodred metallic , with a 140 or so horsepower and a shitload of extra's, this car cuts through corners like a hot knife through butter. (Actually that last line isn't mine, I borrowed it from Gene Simmons, which some believe to be my dad- If you've seen stupid pictures of me you know what I mean;)) I also like to go cruisin', kicking back having the sounds coming out of my car stereo I like to hear.A few months ago House Of Lords did a show on the ZRock fest in Wigan UK. The promoter and I discussed about a million things and then some about the show, and him being a great guy, provided us with almost everything we asked for. He even took care of a suprise for Chris, a birthday autograph book and a birthday cake. Great Credits for Mark Alger on this! The show was an absolute blast, check my blog for more details. So the 2008 tour for Europe for House Of Lords has come to a stop and plans for 2009 are in the make. In the meantime I..m planning a tour for Tyketto early 2009 for which the first dates already have been confirmed.
