About Me

I can't remember a time when I didn't play a musical instrument, started out on piano but moved into the guitar (easier to carry around!) - been writing songs since I was 15 or so - maybe a bit earlier - and I've been performing since about then as well (school based bands). I've played in rock bands, played bass in a Jazz band, played in folk groups, duets, trio's and played solo a lot. I enjoyed the band years from a playing perspective, but ego clashes can extract a cost (I do not claim to be innocent when it comes to the clashes either). I'm no crooner - I suppose I'd define myself as a "topical" songwriter - it was good enough for Phil Ochs it should be good enough for me.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: Just here -
Band Members: Might as well come clean - it's just me - six string guitar, twelve string guitar, electric guitar, five string banjo (if you're lucky you won't hear it), harmonica, vocals and songwriting - I'm also the recording technician, I do the mixing, the arrangements, and if I used 'em I'd be responsible for overdubs and that kinda crap -
Influences: Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Tommy Sands, Jim Croce, Segovia, various professors, friends, ministers, politicians (hey - it says influences - not positive influences!), Jay Farrar, TVZ, Steve Earle, my parents, my kids, various forms of alcohol, sunshine, darkness, fear of accepting mediocrity
Sounds Like: I guess "cheap whiskey running across rusted steel" would be an good description. Guess you're going to have to come out and figure it out for yourself. I've been told I sound like Steve Earle, a young Bob Dylan and a few other people - and I'm fine with that. Tell ya who I don't sound like - Sinatra - there are times I'd like to - but then my voice wouldn't fit the songs I write .... pick up a copy of brass knuckles -
