Firstly, he's got to be attractive, at least to me if no one else. Looks do count. If they didn't, then there would be no difference between dating a man or a woman. Secondly, he should have a sense of humor. I'm a goofball, so I'm hoping that he can appreciate that. Third, if we're going to go beyond dating, he should be Jewish or willing to convert. I have no problem with intermarriage. What I do have a problem with is a committed Jew marrying anyone other than a committed Jew. Fourth, and most important, he should believe in commitment. No "Open Relationships." Ever. Marriages take lots of work. There are lots of rewards, too.
Filk's my favorite...particularly Julia Ecklar, Phoenyx, and Heather Alexander. Other favorites are Madonna, The Corrs, Lisa Marie Presley, Harel Skaat, Melissa Etheridge, k.d. lang, Jill Scott, Olivia Newton John, Ivri lider, The Bacon Brothers, Maroon 5, and various country artists.
Shakespeare In Love, Twilight of the Golds, The American President, The Princess Bride, Braveheart, LA Confidential, The Family Stone, and Dangerous Laisons. Anything Science Fiction gets a mention.
Queer As Folk (British), Metrosexuality, Changing Rooms, and Battlestar Gallactica are favorites. Basically anything on BBCAmerica, especially Mystery Monday, after that, it's The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill and I'm excited about Lost. And while she's not on anymore, Buffy'll always be near the top of the list.
Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" is my favorite series. My favorite book would have to be "Magic's Pawn," by Mercedes Lackey. Steven Brust and C.J. Cherryh always delight. George R.R. Martin is a master. I read any and all Science Fiction and Fantasy. Mysteries by Quentin Jardine, or taking place in Scotland grab my attention. In Non-fiction, I love Camile Paglia, Aviva Zornberg, and Joseph Telushkin. "The Mythmaker" by Hyam Maccoby is a fave.
