SHITFINGER! (music for a lost generation)

About Me

SHITFINGERS IN THE SHITE: THE SKIDMARK SESSIONS is a truly remarkable piece of work with an amazing history. It is a landmark record that shook the true foundations of the record industry....without anyone even knowing! Its hard to imagine how many bands have been influenced by the finger over the past few decades and that little or no credit have been given to the band. The time has come to put Shitfinger back on the map. Ronnie Rude (guitar), Dick Cheese (drums), Big Jim Jizzum (vocals and guitar) and in the last few months, much like Sid Vicious in the last days of The Pistols, Billy-Bob Stains on bass (like Vicious, Billy-Bob couldn't actually play his instrument)...4 names that between them created a new sound, a new genre and a new generation of music. The first song on the famous sessions is Fishermen of England a huge hit in Denmark in 76 it never had an opportunity to flourish in the U.K. It is now widely known that at the time Malcom McClaren was in the country when it hit the charts. He instantly formed The Sex Pistols and had them in the charts with their version of the finger-type rock within 3 weeks. When the boys returned from the final leg of their East German tour the Sex Pistols had hit the big time! Another blow was to come, the master tapes from the new album in the shite has been stolen from Bog Roll Records HQ. It was the only copy they had as Dick Cheese and Big Jim had accidentally skimmed the only other copy into the Thames whilst playing frisbee! Some say that Mr. McClaren had it stolen to avoid expensive court costs, some say that the record company boss Ogy -bog-roll- Osbourne was annoyed with the boys and had heard rumours of them splitting away from his record company, some even said the recording never even happened!! Its hard to say what happened and history has mingled with myth and created a mixture of truth and legend. The tape went missing for over 30 years and finally re-emerged at a car boot sale in Preston. Listening to these tracks now, 3 decades later, it's amazing to ponder the influence The Finger had on the punk and new wave movements of the late 70's. Without their influence there would have been no Undertones (a young Fergal Sharky heard Outrage Splits at a gig on Shitfingers ill fated Irish tour in late '76 and borrowed the riff and melody for Teenage Kicks, a move which led to a lengthy court case which eventually was dismissed after a drunk and psychotic Ronnie Rude called the judge a 'f*cking c*nt'). There certainly would have been no Sex Pistols or any of the bands that followed after - hard to imagine, but true.Buy the full Shitfinger album (in the shite) the skidmark sessions for £10 + postage from u.k. - email us and we'll sort you out. Also includes a bonus DVD of xmas paper (up my arse) video. Keep the faith Shitfinger fans our day will come!
